Our society’s obesity problem has some personal responsibility. There are other ways people can obtain healthier foods; cooking your own meals is an excellent alternative. Some think that fast food is inexpensive in which catches the public’s eye. In fact, cooking meals at home is a lot cheaper; consumers can grow their own food. Another factor of obesity can also be linked to parental responsibility.
P America’s Obesity Crisis Obesity has plagued America. Poor food choices and sedentary lifestyles are two accelerants which continue to fuel this fire. I view this as a lack of responsibility of ones self. As adults, we need to be held accountable for the choices we make. While fast food is convenient and sometimes even more affordable than preparing a meal at home, overindulgence in such behavior is directly linked to adverse health problems.
Chips, candy, etc) and fast food. It is very convenient to go through a drive through, call for takeout, or lounge in a restaurant. But what is not realized are the harmful starches and calories being put into their body that in the long-run will have negative effects on the person’s health. Therefore, if Americans became more proactive, and increased their physical exercise, the risk of obesity would
For instance, losing energy, feeling sick, might faint. People usually lie to their body every day by eating stuff that they are not supposed to do is because they do not know what they are really eating. Some people do not really care what they are eating as long it’s delicious, they would accept it. As matter fact, people worry more about their daily task than eating appropriately. In his article,” In defense of food “: Michael Pollen established “what is food” and why do American’s eat nonfood in such large quantities?” Definitely, I’m agree about food labels do provide enough information for consumers to make an informed choice about what to feed their bodies.
He insists they would not eat as much if they knew that it was bad for them or if the industry put nutrition labels on their food. My outlook on this topic varied significantly from that of Zinczenko’s. I feel that it is not the fault of the fast food company. Neither would I put blame on the younger children who eat fast food. I would put most of the culpability on the parents who do not teach their kids how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and buy their children unhealthy food. I disagree completely that we as Americans suffer from lack of information about nutrition in fast food.
This means that they need different types of nutrition’s. For example since their metabolism tend to burn the food faster they need some type of heavy food but not too heavy so soon their metabolism won’t be able to break it down; which will cause them to gain weight. Pollan does point out in his book how fast food is not very healthy and how it is a poor quality of food. I am here to correct what he said towards fast food. Fast food can be good for you if you eat the fast food correctly.
They are making comments such as, "The problem of obesity is so staggering, so out of control, that we have to do something." There is something this person can do to fix this problem of obesity. This person can stop blaming the restaurants, stop eating at the restaurants, start making healthy decisions, and exercise. If not, then this person can keep making the decision of eating there and getting fat, but not sue the restaurant because this is a decision he has made. Fast food restaurants dont force the clients to buy and eat there.
Going through a drive-through is much more effective than sitting down at a restaurant or preparing meals at home. For the average working class family living life on the go, it can save a lot of time and money. Also, the industry itself creates and perpetuates millions of jobs for the economy (often with low wages and poor benefits). The most common reason people continue to eat fast food, despite their knowledge of the negative effects, is the simple fact that it tastes good. The addictive and yet fattening qualities associated with fast food leave people constantly craving one more bite.
Corporations make us fat Many people claim that it is personal responsibility of what you eat, however fast food corporations and their marketing strategies make it almost impossible to say no. From childhood we are conditioned to grab a large combo meal on our way home instead of going to the grocery store then cooking it ourselves. The ease, convenience, and the cheap prices make it all too easy for consumers. Corporations are to blame for America’s obesity problems because of their lack of nutritional information available to consumers, their lack of alternatives, and their brand recognition and advertisements addicting us from childhood. There is no calorie information posted in any fast food restaurant.
So therefore the introduction of new laws impacts Burger King in many ways. These calorie counts impact Burger king both financially and competitively; since the no. of calories in different foods of Burger King would be made present to consumers, they would maybe be reluctant to purchase these foods due to the high amount of calories (which contributes to obesity),
