Why drugs should not be legalized George Parker ENC-1102-12 Composition II October 30, 2010 Legalizing drugs would make it so much easier for the law enforcement and they would be getting the tax money from it as well. They would be able to control the price and the amount of each package sold as well as who would be able to buy the product. This may cause a problem with the youth that are into using the drug due to the government putting an age limit on the purchase of the drug. The drug dealer would lose all their business as the drug would be legal and the price of the drug would be in the hands of the local government and not in the dealer’s hand. Possible detrimental effects range from altered awareness and reduced motor control to allergic reactions, poisoning and death by overdose. School kids wouldn’t want to do anything for they are under the influence and would want to sleep or do more of their drug they are using. I do understand why drugs are illegal and do want them to be taken off the streets to help protect the younger generation as they are brought up in the world today. There are many reasons as young kids overdose due the drugs having added chemicals or taking too much of the drug and the peer pressure from the dealer and or friend’s that are using the drugs. “There is a lot of controversy over whether drugs should be legalized or not.
