It is essential that there is good and effective communication taking place within the work setting. Daily tasks will only be successful with smooth transfers of information. In order for me to develop within my role as support worker for adults, there must be effective communication between the service users, other key workers and myself. This will help keep positive morale and improve the quality of work. Effective communication skills are also needed to encourage service users to talk about what they are feeling, to say what they think or to express their needs, concerns, wishes or preferences.
By having good communication skills it will build good relationships in the work place. Communication works both ways, so it is important to speak clearly in a way that the person listening would understand so it causes no confusions. Some factors to take into consideration when communication would be hand and facial gestures; which could show feelings and emotions. Another factor is the person your speaking to and the level of understanding they have, and if they will be able to understand more technical and complicated words.

To ensure effective teamwork and continual care of the children we must communicate well by keeping each other informed and aware of current situations going on around us.
Good communication can also lead to them being willing to confide any problems or concerns that they may have and highlight any potential problems that could be developing or have already developed.
