Office politics or people trying to use their position within a team or organisation to benefit themselves, disadvantage others or gain a competitive edge can also be a real problem to effective tem working as there will be mistrust, suspicion resentment etc. All of these can lead to teams having members in direct conflict with one another, meaning that they do not focus on the work that needs to be done, and spend more time on problems being encountered, creating a negative atmosphere for everyone at work.
