When new management comes into an existing business environment, the changes they make can drastically affect the outcome in both a positive or a negative direction. The sales team has one of the most difficult positions at the station. Cold calling and rejection are not easily overcome and it takes a talented individual to be successful at it. However, without a solid on-air team they wouldn't have a solid product to sell. On the other side, if the on-air team does not have a solid sales team, the station can not stay afloat. The owner is based out of another state and is only on site about 5 times a year, however phone calls are almost daily. While the general manager position can be flexible when necessary, upon acquiring the new position, it was important for the staff to have access to management as much of the day as possible, so I currently am in the office for 10-11 hours a day, and on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Long and short term goals are set for each of the sales representatives. Expectations of the goals and job requirements are clarified in the beginning and it is made clear that if goals are being reached, the flexible schedule will continue. Additionally, incentives are placed for additional motivation. The traffic and office manager is the most flexible schedule of them all. Essentially a part time position that does not have set hours to be worked. Again, if the work is complete and correct, the schedule is not
