Spooked by Computers Case Study Organizational development is a collection of change methods that try to improve organizational effectiveness and employee well-being. Change can be a hard process with anyone especially when something has worked for you for so long. Organizational change can be difficult for people you’ve been with an organization for years and adapting to something new can be scary. Organizational development with any company is good because anything that can strengthen the employees will strengthen the company. Organization development is appropriate in this company situation because the company is not moving in the direction of a growing company. The company has so much paperwork that everyone is doing multiple jobs. The company need to get more organized by getting a computer software system that can help balance their budget and sort the mailing list. The software can remove a lot of stress and will take less people to do the job. It would also eliminate the amount of part time people needed around the busy time of the year. The employees had displayed strong resistance with the project. The employees feel that they don’t need any change because they had used the same method for years and it has worked for them. They also feel that hand mailing the letters are more personal than automated. The last resistance is that the employees are afraid to learn how to use the computer and they are too old. The employees think it would be too difficult to learn a new process and it would replace their jobs. To overcome the resistance, Martin Walker needs to gain the employees trust. He needs to be encouraging and ensure them that it would be the best move for the project and the company.
