Life Styles Inventory Evaluation Sue Fernandez GM591 Professor: Marco Faggione May 13, 2012 Personal Thinking Styles My results from the LSI test shows my primary thinking style is affiliative and my backup is conventional. I believe these personal styles are an accurate fit of my personality. Since affiliative means being cooperative, friendly, and has a genuine concern for others and conventional describes someone who values policies and practices, it fits my personal and work life. I think the humanistic-encouraging trait is important because like any other leader, people must trust you, set goals that are attainable, learn how to resolve issues in a constructive manner, and encourage your followers. I enjoy listening to people’s problems and helping them think positive and find the healthiest or best solution. I am normally the person my friends come to when they need to talk to someone. I believe as a manager a person must have a sense of how a person is and deal with each person individually if needed so each person as an understanding of what is the mission is. Controlling as a manager is something I believe I will have to work on. As stated previously, I scored a 1 percentile in the power personal style. In order for a manager to control his/her employees a sense of authority must be in place. Too much power is not good, but just enough so a manager has enough confidence or force to prove his or her employees that what he/she says is what is right. As I learned through my jobs in college, sales were not for me and I enjoyed dealing with people. My job with the Social Security Administration allows me to do all three. As long as I have a genuine concern for each person I speak to and follow the policies SSA sets, both my employer and I are happy with my work. At times people may have problems beyond what I can help them with through my job or even beyond them, which I like to encourage them to think positive or look through for options. My job can negative at times, but encouraging others and trying to give them hope is what motivates
