1.2 Within my own job role I support effective communication on a daily basis. Interpersonal skills enable me to interact, resulting in successful communication. Positive relationships with families, friends and my clients are vital in order to meet the individual’s needs and compile their care plan. I may share information with health care professionals on a one to one basis and/or with my client also present. During resident’s monthly meetings, I am able to talk within the group, whilst also ensuring that each individual can hear and understand me.
It is therefore important for the carers to be aware of the individuals preferred method of communication and also to support the individual to use their preferred method. Individuals have the right to communicate through their chosen method and their choice should be acknowledged and respected by supporting them. The individual’s right are particularly important when using specific communication methods and language because it’s their major way of communicating their needs and preferences. Communication is a basic human right. Without communication the individual is unable to realise or exercise their rights.
Use and Develop Systems that Promote Communication. 1.1 Communication affects my work setting in many different ways, between the service user, their family, friends, carers, seniors and all the medical professionals. This may be done in many different ways ie in person, email, telephone calls, text messages and written correspondence. All individuals have the right to communicate in whichever way they feel most comfortable and this should always be supported accordingly. Effective written and verbal communication and being able to use a variety of interpersonal techniques promotes strong working relationships and will promote good quality care.
1.1 Review the range of groups and individuals whose communication needs must be addressed in own job role. There are a wide range of groups and individuals who I communicate with within my role at Epworth Grange. These include other home managers within MHA other members of the senior team, care staff, residents, domestics, healthcare professionals, visitors to the home, relatives, and also residents. I communicate with these people in many different ways in writing, verbally and also by listening. I have to utilise different skills when communicating with the different individuals for example- a member of staff may need to feel valued supported and understood , I may need to adapt the way I communicate to ensure them I understand.
• Manage a range of services to address the service user’s needs. • Develop personal skills with the service users, families etc. • Develop a skill base for staff to meet the needs of service users. • Recognise and utilise the other professional bodies to assist in the care packages • Make the best use of resources to care for more service users in a co-ordinated and cost effective way. Any contact we have with professional bodies is written in our incoming and outgoing monitor book; care plans are updated on a regular basis and implemented with any other suggestions from social workers, doctors, nurses etc.
By fully supporting service users with specific communication needs you are able to support their rights. 3. It is difficult and frustrating to communicate effectively when there is background noise, therefore arranging the environment to aid communication is very important step to achieving effective communication with service users. There are many things that I do that contribute to the overall delivery of the service provider, for example I provide the best possible care I can give to the service users & families of those service users by communicating effectively & being involved in their day to day activities and personal needs I may also write their daily reports in deep detail. I read and sign all the service users care plans to ensure I can provide the correct and safest care. Bvii Explain how you could influence the quality of the service provided by: a). Following best practice within your work role; As a guidance to follow the best practice I use the Codes of Practice and Care Quality Commission`s outcomes from which I can learn more to improve my practice.
ANSWER When communicating with others the content of the message must be clear ,and in clear way.When receiving must be alert to verbal and non-verbal messages. The most communication we do is by our body language. If we do not have good body language skills then we must improve that,as in crucial to understand people that way and send positive messages to others by adopting words we know,making eye contact,having a good posture,attitude,gesture,and facial expression. We must let the other person by turning to wards them ,that we have interest in listening what they have to say,and care for what they say.In a conversation must not ever interrupt the person who speaks as the ideea or answer might be deferent from ours. The factors that affect communication are: -posture: Folded arms can look defensive and discourage comunication.Friends and family often mirror the others person posture during conversation witch might feel patronising or thrightening.
