We Need Healthier Fast Food Intro: I love my fast food just as much as the next guy but then again, I wish it was healthier. Fast food is something we love here in America but the U.S. is one of the most obese countries in the world. The percentage of overweight children and adolescents has nearly tripled since the early 1970’s, according to an article off DonorsChoose.org. I think that this has a lot to do with the advertisement of non-healthy foods. When I watch TV I don’t remember a time where a commercial break came on and I didn’t see a commercial for fast food. I see it all the time. Every other commercial is about fast food. I love fast food. I don’t eat it on a regular basis, but I’ve had my share, and if it wasn’t so bad for you I would definitely be eating a lot more than I am now. I would eat it every day if it was healthier, and if I had the money of course. We need to cut back on fast food because it doesn’t provide enough healthy foods, and it can cause lots of problems. Main Point: According to the McDonald’s website, 64 million customers are served each day at McDonald’s worldwide. A) Convenience of fast food- Sure everybody has busy lives and it’s great to go through a drive thru and order some food. But it really takes a toll on your body. But the reality is that when people are in a rush and have a lot to do, they can always just swing through the Drive-thru and get some fast food for a reasonable price. It’s quick and easy, it’s very appealing to a lot of people. B) Cheap- Fast food restaurants keep making deals and lowering prices to reel in customers, and they succeed. Almost every fast food place has dollar menu’s now, of course that’s going to bring in a lot of customer’s. Who wouldn’t pay a dollar for a double cheeseburger?
