By law every organisation must have an equal opportunities policy. In relation to health and social care the equal opportunities policy states that all individuals must receive the same high level of care. Diversity: Diversity means accepting and respecting differences. This means that everyone is recognised as being different and that their differences are respected. Everyone is an individual and has differences, no one is the same.
With groups it can affect organisations, communities and society as a whole. Even the people who inflict discrimination can be affected by negative impact -they could fail to experience the benefits of diversity, equality and inclusion. It could also affect their broadening of their horizons. Negative impact can be :- Loss of self esteem Poor self image Confusion, anger and depression Disempowerment Loss of motivation, achievement Missed opportunities Marginalisation 1.3 The importance of inclusive practice is it enables people to be valued, confident, feel safe and have all their needs met. They can then participate in society without feeling prejudice or

Equality Equality means that everyone should be treated like an equal. Inclusion Inclusion means to include everyone within a group not leaving anyone out because of their race, gender etc. 2.) Potential effects of discrimination are anger, felling humiliated. The person being discriminated against will feel worth less and alone.
Unit 3 Champion Equality, Diversity and Inclusion 1.1 In my role as a bungalow manager I am responsible for ensuring that all service users, their families, friends, staff members and those that I work alongside with, are treated equally, every person should be treated with dignity and respect. There are many legislations, codes of practice and also my workplace policies which regulate equality diversity and inclusion within my area of responsibility. In my managerial role I have to promote equality and uphold individuals equality of opportunity, individual rights and choice, their privacy, individuality, independence, dignity, respect, promote empowerment, equality of care, confidentiality and their wishes and needs. I must show how I respect diversity and accept other individual’s differences. Some of the ways I can show this are; • Complaint procedure; When a service user wants to make a complaint I have to explain to them the procedure, support them in how to complete the complaint and give feedback about the result whilst maintaining confidentiality.
The fourth categorization based on a person’s gender is the most apparent. Merging people, concepts, concrete items, or abstractions frames a cultural diversity in the workplace. Looking at diversity in terms of dominant and subordinate groups the subordinate groups form through migration - a movement of people, annexation the incorporation of people by another group, or colonialism - the dominance over a group of people by a foreign power. The outcome of this has had negative consequences for subordinate groups, extremes such as extermination or genocide; to less the extreme, but still potentially detrimental effects of assimilation. Primary dimensions is considered fixed and involuntary.
1.2- Indirect Discrimination: Indirect discrimination occurs when policies and practices, which appear neutral or fair because they are applied to everyone, actually disadvantage people and particular groups within society. Unfair or unequal treatment of an individual or group on the grounds of age, disability ,gender, race, religion, beliefs or sexual orientation, being treated less favourable than someone else in the same situation, being treated unfairly. Positive Discrimination: Positive discrimination is regarded as the preferential treatment of members of a minority group over a majority group, either by sex, race, age, marital status or sex orientation. Understand the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion. In societal terms diversity is defined as the concept of encompassment concerning assorted and varied bodies, particularly within a community or other congregational entity. Put simply, diversity may be translated as the collection of different things; diversity literally means difference. 1.1 Equality is the notion of all participants within a system maintaining the same rights and opportunities as one another, ethically or otherwise, whilst being exempt from discrimination. Inclusion, in laymen's terms is the involvement of all parties regardless of ethnic, age, status, or sexual boundaries.
Diversity: The concept of diversity is about acceptance and respect. Diversity embraces everything that is different about people, appearance , gender, race, culture, ability, talent and beliefs. In my work place starting by the staff team we have a huge diversity of people, we have male and females , different nationalities ,appearances and beliefs. Same happens with the service users we care for . Equality: When you treat everyone the same way, you respect a individual choices, and provide care settings to the individual needs.
