How committed am I? On a scale of 1-10 on how committed I am to my education, my answer is 10. In the classroom discussion I said that my main reason was that “it is time”. When I say this I mean life is going on without me. I am a single parent now, and the job workforce is very competitive. Without the necessary education and skills, I will continue to be bypassed by my more qualified and educated peers. Not only do I want to better myself for me and my own personal future, but I also want to set an example for my daughter. I want her to know that that it is never too late to make your life better. And as a women, it is okay to survive on your own without the help of a man. If I could go back in time and have a conversation with myself about how committed I am to my education, I am sure my answer would not be anywhere near a 10. I had a different mindset then. I was recently married, expecting my daughter shortly after that, and the house wife of a soldier. My main concern was is the house clean? What am I going to make for dinner? Did I pay all bills on time? And if my husband at the time was safe where he was stationed, being he was recently deployed at that time. In projecting how I may feel in 5 years concerning my education. My answer will primarily depend upon a as needed demand. If I am in a career that requires that I keep updating my skills, then yes I will come back and refresh myself. Life is competitive and if you want to succeed you need to compete. There is always going to be someone younger and smarter then I, trying to get the better position that I too am trying for. It is my responsibility to be the best me I can be. Part of being a successful student is taking the initiative. I plan to always complete my assignments on time, if not early when possible. I have already begun new study strategies.
