COMM 215 Week 1 Essay Professional sports bring more to a community than cheering for your favorite team or cheering just because you are a fan of the game. Yes, it boosts the morale of a community or city and gives us something to look forward to when the season comes. It also brings job opportunity and also tourist to see their team along with people just traveling through the city, and make it a point to see the stadium would be a good stop on their way to their destination if it wasn’t Dallas/Fort Worth. The businesses surrounding the stadiums and the professional teams benefit for the traffic and the tourism from the attraction of either games or tours. Professional sports have played a big role in the community, between the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Mavericks it has brought money and a lot of tourism to the area. Especially with the building of the new Cowboys stadium; there are people from around the country that come take a tour and walk around the facility to get a grasp what the players get to enjoy all the time. This draws in stores and shops to the area which also brings capital with the convenience of not having to drive so far to shop for things that we need and want. Some of the biggest impacts of professional sports in the community are the kids, they look up to these athletes and the stars of the sport are emulated through the youth’s young life. This alone pushes the youth to try to make it to the professional level. With that drive responsibility in the classroom and discipline the younger generation enough to sharpen their craft. This is one of the major reasons why athletes are held at a higher level they have many fans that look up to them and want to be in their shoes one day.
