This particular client has a tendency to eat sweet foods and pastries. She had in previous time lost some weight which had left her with a roll of excess skin hanging from the bottom of her stomach and the promise of an operation to remove this, pointed us in the right direction. I started to take her food shopping and helping her recognise what foods are good and what are bad. This was done by reading labels and checking fat, salt and sugar content and also by selecting diabetic foods and fresh foods.
However it isn’t just parents who play an important role in influencing our food habits the media is also a key influence. TV and Magazines are a great contribution to the influence of eating habits especially when people want to eat healthy, but eating healthy doesn’t necessarily mean you are healthy; there is such an emphasis on being slim in magazines, which some girls thrive to be like. There are so many secret diets such as the ‘maple syrup diet’ that is supposed, to make you drop pounds fast; however your only supposed to consume this which has a bad affect on your health. These diets are broadcasted to a wide population through magazines as Macintyre et al said the media has a huge impact on people attitudes to food and what they eat. Sandwiches are a better choice because they maintain a lot of carbohydrates. This would fill the children up and keeps their brain functioning. On the food pyramid carbohydrates are at the bottom this is because you need to intake carbohydrates than any other food group. Having a piece of fruit would be good to have as its one of your 5 a day, and they contain the nutrients your body needs. Fruit is good for our bowels and would help the children go to the toilet regularly, this would prevent constipation.
The influence of parents and the influence of celebrities share similarities in that they influence people’s choices of lifestyle, their effectiveness through imitation, and the qualities of the influence, and contrast each other in that they differ in physical distance, the subject of being influenced by a free will, and the aspects of life that they contribute to. Both parents and celebrities are crucial in influencing our choices of lifestyle. Because we stay with parents almost all the time, our habits and the way we live everyday come mainly from the influence of our parents. They teach us how to talk and walk; they feed us the kinds of food that they like or think are good for us; they tell us when to sleep and wake up. Also, if parents smoke or drink, their children are more likely to choose to smoke or drink because they would regard smoking or drinking as a normalcy and because they have seen it every day.
Although many people may not like natural food because it do not have not flavor, natural food does provide enough nutrients, so people can have more energy in their daily life performance. For instance, when I eat homemade food, I have sufficient energy to be able to study, play soccer, and go to work. Therefore, I enjoy more to eat homemade food than eating processing food. Proper nutrition is absolutely essential during childhood as it is a critical time for growth and development of the body. Ingrained eating habits that lead to these diseases are very difficult to reverse. Poor nutrition creates many potential short and long term risks. Aside from obesity, possible long-term effects include type 2 diabetes, heart disease, strokes and some cancers, along with mental health issues including anxiety, learning disabilities and even depression. Proper nutrition starts at home and parents need to learn how they can improve the quality of their children’s nutrition and instill the good habits that will ensure they have the greatest chance for a healthy, successful future.
My Fitness and Nutritional Habits Before beginning this class, my fitness and nutritional habits were horrible. I mainly ate fast foods and never found time for fitness. However, since beginning the class, I am finding time for fitness and I watch what I eat. The changes had made a significant difference. I feel better and am losing weight as well.
She stepped on the road to a healthy life. Eating healthy and exercising helped her to lose weight and inches, but the best part was feeling healthy again. She started a new level of life, a life she wanted. New friends, new job, new relations and activities fulfilled her life. And she was enjoying it.
Another ways is to manage your sleeping habits. The last way is taking control over certain situations. I believe these ways are effective, because when I’?m stressed I try to exercise and I also try to get enough sleep to feel relaxed when I wake up. There is a clear connection between what you eat and drink, overall health and well-being, and stress. Eating a lot of junk food will add pounds to your body and reduce your energy level (Barefoot & Gardner, 2012).
