In the case study involving the purchasing and operation issues of Dryden Inks, the purchasing agent, Jane Waterman worked an excessive amount of overtime during her time at the company. Dryden Inks started as a family business and grew along with their competition, which had become much stronger and then developed a pressure regarding their prices. Jane noticed that older methods were being used that didn’t match the demands of their products and most of the company’s orders were on a “rush basis”. She wanted to contribute to the company in a way that would make their day-to-day operations become more productive and efficient. Certain problems in this case are having an outdated and no comprehensive inventory that causes their control system to reflect improper supply amounts.

Vanderkam feels the pay gap is reasonable considering women are beginning to work more hours, but some Americans argue that social inequality is now in favor of women. America is always going to have competitiveness with employee wages. While this is seen as social inequality, it sometimes is morally fair. If women are working more hours than men, many people find it reasonable for women to make more money.
Aldi understand that the retailer has a great impact on employment. Actually, the retail industry is labor-intensive industry. Aldi employs a lot of students, the disabled and the elderly workers and paying them lower rates. In an industry usually high staff turnover, these workers provide a higher level of loyalty, so is the ideal employee. Sabrina Tavernise from the New York Times says, “as a result, there is a growing generation gap, with younger Americans far less likely than older ones to have a family member who served.” (Tavernise) Americans are excessively self-satisfied, and think the government will always take care of their needs. Obviously not all Americans are like this, yet an excessively high rate are. Individuals need to figure out how to provide for themselves. Week 7 Assignment 2 Through history women and the GLBT, community has been looked down upon as inferior to men. As time has proven to be a good thing for women especially the last decade because it has been a time of great advancement for women in the workforce and the outlook that society has on them. I think that people in the United States are also becoming more comfortable with the GLBT community. More people are able to express themselves for who they really are and people are becoming more open to the idea of love without limits. I think it is important to look back from where we have come and see the progress that is being made from where we started to where we are today.
It is clear that many of them work not because they are hard working by nature but because they have bills that are more than what they make, so many are bound to do more than two jobs just to meet up, and this will eventually goes to statistics as hard working but it is not, it is working to make ends meet. Edgell says that women do most decision making frequently on a probably daily basis, but their decisions go unnoticed whereas men make fewer decisions more infrequently but they seem to be the more important decisions such as moving house or buying a car or other serious financial decisions. A radical feminist would say that Edgells study just outlines the fact that we are living in a patriarchal society and that men are viewed more highly and have more power and control in the relationship, and that women are just used for everyday menial tasks. Research performed by the American Progress Organization shows that nearly 6 out of 10 women are the primary, sole, or co-provider for their family. As more dependence is being placed on women, the wages are expected to match with those demands. A route to a faster improvement would be to raise the minimum wage. The demand for more money is very high and women make up two-thirds of the minimum wage workers. A raise in the minimum wage gap would inadvertently help everyone, while still deliberately aiding in the step for equality in the workplace.
2. Problem Analysis Miscommunication can be experienced in a relationship between men and women in the field of love, friendship or family. However in the past few years women are more likely to find a job and to work on a career, which means that more women can be found in the work place. Men and women working together can cause great results for an organization because this provides a variety of ideas. There is a growth in the amount of woman who work outside of the home. In 1890 the ratio of woman of men working was one of five (Henslin, 2010, p. 316). In 1960 the ratio had changed and it was now one woman of three men (Henslin, 2010, p. 316). As of today the ratio is one of two (Henslin, 2010, p. 316). Even though today more women have joined the workforce and often do the same jobs as men, women get paid less.
