I am an incoming freshman and also a recruit of Pat Hanlon’s for the 2011-2012 Oswego State Women’s Volleyball team. When making my decision for which college to attend, I was inspired by everything that the team had to offer. The team striked me as so welcoming, they had an enormous amount of chemistry while playing together, and were truly amazing ,enthusiastic individuals. After seeing one game, my decision to attend Suny Oswego was finalized. My mom and I attended a match last fall season and I felt such an amazing vibe from the girls.
It is there that they are mentored, coached and practice for hours to be the best. For most, that is where the dreams also end. As NCAA television commercials remind us, most college athletes will become professional in something other than sports. Many youth begin dreaming and playing sports at a very early age. Parents are willing
Even though she does not play professionally, Misty’s athleticism still shows. Clearly, Mksty May-Treanor deserves to be named “the greatest beach volleyball team of all time” alongside with her partner Kerri Walsh. They both have been together from 2003 to 2009. Throughout those years, they have both trained together and fought together to earn the victories they have battled for. It is obvious that Misty-May Treanor greatly deserves the awards and gold medals she has earned by playing the sport she loves the most.
This goal can be measured by comparing it to the SMART goal methodology we discussed in class. SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. This goal is specific because they must train and perform better each day to win the championship in the few weeks they had. It is measurable since they check each person’s time and how they progress, if one runner’s time doesn’t make it they get cut out of the top 7. Coach Newton always tells the boys however fast you run, run faster.
To be successful is all a wrestler could want, being a state champion is your main goal and is what you heart is set on. For Gerardo to win state champion was big deal due to he loved wrestling with a passion. He was keeping his eye on the prize until during one match his dreams flashed before his eyes. He was in the verge of winning a challenge against his opponent from Yuma High school, and as his scores kept going up the more frustrated the other young man got. In his anger the Yuma High rival pulled a move that had severely injured Gerardo.
As the dual progressed my team wrestled with purpose, passion and power. Finally, it was my turn to step out on that mat and put to work all my physical and mental preparation. The fans were roaring with excitement, the gym was full of supporters, my mind was racing and my heart was pounding. A moment of self-doubt overtook me: one mistake and all my dedication and drive would not pay off and I would let my team and school down. As the match began my mind was blank for the entirety of the first period and I relied on my body to do what it was trained to do.
Making the Basketball Team Sabriya Finch 3/1/2010 11:00 a.m. class Dr. Nicolette Rose I was attending Norcross High School in the tenth grade when I decided to join the basketball team. I had been playing basketball ever since I was five. Basketball was my favorite sport, but the only time I played on a team was when I was 8 at the YMCA. When I got older my family and friends would ask me if I planned to play in high school. At the time I was not really sure because I was afraid of not making the team.
[< What is an example of a great teamwork? What makes a team have good or bad teamwork? You might want to elaborate this for readers to have a better understanding of these concepts.] Like the Dutch National team last summer, it was a lot of individual work and I know that if the teamwork would be better the results would have been better. Being around your teammates off the court is very important.
It is very important for a coach to have a philosophy about what he or she wishes to accomplish and what they want their athletes to accomplish along with the winning. Although the benefits of teaching and coaching can be questioned by many all it takes is that former or current athlete showing up one day and saying, “Coach thanks for all you have done for me, I couldn’t have done it without you.” and your ready to get going all over again. The levels of coaching that I hope to coach someday will be elementary all the way up to High School. I need to be around our club wrestling team at a young age, this will help teach the kids the things they need to know at an early age. It will also help build a powerhouse team by the time they get to high school.
Powder-puff football, a game that pits junior girls against senior girls was a tradition that Barrington High School lost some time in the mid 1990’s. It was a competitive yet amusing event that served to rally the student body for the impending Thanksgiving Day game. In September of my junior year, a group of us decided it was time to spark some school spirit and revive the
