2 Triad of impairments is the term that describes the difficulties that people with autism experience in differing degrees. Because all people are different, the way autism effects them is also different. 3 Autistic individuals may have symptoms that are independent of the diagnosis, but that can affect individual and the family. Up to 10% of individuals with ASD shows unusual abilities, ranging from memorization of trivia to the extraordinary rare talents of prodigious autistic savants. Many individual with ASD shows superior skills in perception and attention , relative to the general population.

Communication difficulties may contribute to autistic adults they become socially anxious or depressed or prone to self-injurious behaviours. Many adults with autism are being diagnosed with co-morbid mood, anxiety and compulsive disorders which may also contribute to behavioural and functioning challenges. There are different types of problems and not all will occur in each case. These can generally be described as 'not being able to get on with people'. So the adults may: * Seem to be aloof.
Others may find the individual's behaviour unusual, or erratic and may find it difficult to be around them. The individual may feel hurt, insecure, lack self-esteem and become depressed and isolated. Anxiety disorders – is an unrealistic and constant worry about aspects of everyday life. The individual may experience sleep disturbance. They may be restless or agitated, their hearts may beat faster, they may get the shakes and stomach upset.
Individual's on the autistic spectrum may struggle with relationship's and social interaction due to difficulties with communication. It would make it difficult for relationship's to work if there is a lack of understanding each other due to the break down in communication. There may be some problems concerning an individual's preference in activities and interests. This is mainly due to a condition that some individual's on the autistic spectrum can find difficulty in which is social creativity, one of the triad of impairments that define ASC. This can cause some restrictions and inflexibility due to the individual in some cases not being able to fully comprehend the transcendence of traditional idea's, rules, pattern's, etc.
These methods of communication can be useful for building vocabularies of individuals with limited speech. Other individuals may have a vast vocabulary, but due to rigid sets of interests may only use repetitive speech which means their communication can be out of context, making conversations difficult. 2. - Problems that individuals with an autistic spectrum condition may have in social interaction and relationships Due to the social difficulties linked with autism, individuals often find social interaction and the building of relationships very difficult. Individuals with autism often have difficulties reading non-verbal forms of communication, such as body language, and find it hard to relate to other people’s feelings and emotions, which can effect their responses to a social situation as they will appear out of context or inappropriate.
These types of mental ill health are known as Affective disorders, they involve periods of time where the individual experiences feelings of extreme sadness or extreme happiness, the individual may also experience a fluctuation between the two emotions over this period of time. PERSONALITY DISORDERS: - Personality disorders usually become noticeable in adolescence or early adulthood, but sometimes start in childhood. The individual’s patterns of behaviour and thinking differ from the expectations of society. These thinking and behavioural patterns are very rigid and may interfere with the person's normal day to day functioning, They can make it difficult for individuals to start and keep friendships or other relationships, and individuals may find it hard to work effectively with others. Individuals may also find other people very scary, and feel very alienated and alone.
It may also be because the child has committed an offence. Some possible causes in behaviour which might lead to problems for children, young people and their families may include stress, anxiety and depression. Many children suffer from stress, leading to poor school performance and emotional and behavioural problems. Stress may be the result of an unstable home life or feeling of being unloved. Their parents may not have the skills for bringing up children, or the child feels the demands for achievement and success are unrealistic.
Anxiety disorders: Is a feeling of unease, such a worry or fear, that can be mild or severe. Psychotic disorders: are mental illnesses that are characterised by psychotic symptoms, which can generally be described as a loss of contact with reality. Substance related disorders: are disorders of dependence, intoxication, abuse, and substance withdrawal caused by various substances, both legal and illegal. Eating disorders: Any of a range of psychological disorders characterised by abnormal or disturbed eating habits such as anorexia nervous. Cognitive disorders: Are a category of mental health disorders that primary affect learning,memory, perception, and problem solving and include; amnesia, dementia and delirium.
The autism spectrum is a term used to describe a range of people who have a common set of characteristics relating to their ability to interact, communicate and make sense of the world. Within the autistic spectrum there are different abilities in relation to the above that state classic autism and Asperger syndrome, these signify the severity of the children who suffer from autism and it makes it easier for people to identify this. A diagnosis of the autism spectrum is conducted by a range of professionals, from the multi-agency team, through observation and assessments. The legislative frameworks for the autistic spectrum contain many different sections. Some are listed below- -The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) (2008) The Convention does not create new rights for disabled people, rather it helps society to have a better understanding of disabled people’s human rights.
