Carmen Cross Unit 206 Understanding the role of the Social Worker A. Understand working relationships in health and social care. 1. Explain how a working relationship is different from a personal relationship. Working relationships are based on formal policies and procedures. Working relationships are professionally based. As a support worker, it is my job to deliver a very high standard of service to individuals. This includes supported day to day living i.e. personal care, domestic tasks and any activities or appointments they need to attend to. You would not tell the individual you’re supporting about any personal problems you have. As a support worker you would not ask that individual any personal questions that are not relevant. Personal relationships are based on emotions and are informal. You would share support between each other and thoughts in your family, as when you’re with family and friends you can be yourself. Personal relationships involve doing activities together outside of the work environment. 2. Describe different working relationships in health and social care setting. The support workers roles is too make sure they support the individual to there best of there ability and follow their care plan. It is the support workers role to provide the client with good quality of care. To do this you need to involve the individual in any decision making and encourage both there participation and feedback. The role of a care manager fulfils the role of a registered manager. The manager will be available to talk about any issues concerning the individuals 24 hours a day or if any problems occur. The care manager makes sure that consent is established before any care is provided to the individuals. They make sure that the individuals are given enough help to the ones who are unable to
