Robin Baker Aerobics 1 Mid-Term Paper Stress and Unhealthy Eating in Children and the People Responsible Every single day we wake up and begin our day with choices. We choose to get dressed; we choose to go to work or school. We control how, what, and how much food to eat, and we choose to exercise or not to. As an adult, we are all aware of the consequences (good or bad) of most of all the choices we make. As an adult, we are responsible for ourselves. For children, however, we adults mostly choose for them. We control most aspects of a child’s life. Moms, dads, educators, and even lawmakers choose what is best for our children. With that said, why are so many children obese? Why do so many children suffer from stress and depression? If we adults are aware of our choices and the (sometimes)-negative consequences, why do we continue to make the obvious poor decisions on behalf of our children? I will begin my paper discussing stress in children and my ideas to relieve this problem Stress affects all of us, young and old. Most adults have learned various ways to handle stress, and the best techniques for ourselves as individuals. Many would probably agree that exercise of some kind every day is the best technique overall to reduce stress and depression. Most medical professionals would probably agree that exercise is the best way for anyone to reduce stress and promote overall health and wellness. With that common knowledge, I have a hard time understanding why so many schools in our country, all of which are controlled by adults, have decided to reduce the physical education programs for our children. I believe the best way to give our children the opportunity to learn about how to handle stress is to offer various physical training classes. Sports, yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, aerobics, and weight training classes are all excellent classes
