Genocide is the specific targeting and killing of culture or race of people, which is unethical and wrong. Terrorists perform acts of violence meant to disrupt daily life by causing pain and suffering of others. Rape is a sexual act forced upon someone, which destroys the life of another for the self-gratification of one sick individual. Goodman is correct with his statement about certain things are just wrong and unethical in a society. The examples provided are supported and represent unethical acts by people.

By being oppressed these individuals lose a sense of humanity resulting in dehumanization. Humanity entails qualities that make humans such as freedom, integrity, compassion, and understanding. Both oppressors and the oppressed are capable of both humanization and dehumanization characteristics. Dehumanization occurs when those who are robbed of their humanity and those who rob others of their humanity through violence, oppression, and injustice.

Hate crimes affect the victim as well as the community. People commit hate crimes for various reasons; they are unwelcoming of those who aren’t of the same characteristics per se. They feel the need to bully those who they feel are beneath them to compensate for their own short comings. Hate crimes affect individuals from all walks of life. Including but not limited to those of religious, race, and sexual orientation.

Racial prejudice deals with terrible and hostile pre-judgments, opinions, and actions towards a race. Moreover, racism has some devastating effects.
