Should Children under the age of 14 use Facebook? Facebook was launched February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin. Since Facebook has been launched, it has become the most used social networking site of all time. Across the world Facebook is used to contact people at all ages. Anyone can use it and majority of people that use it are children. 1 out of 3 users are children but should we allow them to use Facebook? Facebook has been known to help find long lost family members such as sisters, brothers and it’s also helps people to keep in touch with family and friends but Facebook isn’t as good as it seems. Every 1 out of 3 users are children but children shouldn’t be wasting their childhood on it. Children should be out playing with friends, having fun and using their imagination. Kids nowadays get up in the morning to check their Facebook like it’s the morning newspaper. I don’t agree with children having Facebook and there are plenty of reasons why. People say Facebook helps children with learning and development. It helps to develop social skills because you can keep in touch with friends and you’re also making new friends as well. People get a chance to talk to people that there are scared to talk to in person. This develops confidence and in some way self-esteem. It makes them feel less isolated by talking to people and you always have a subject to talk about such as hobbies, interests, television programs, feelings and so on. It makes kids feel like they have someone to talk to but this could be a very bad thing. Friends of friend’s will try to add you and try to talk to you. Talking to new people that you’ve never met or talked to before is like talking to people that you don’t know in the street. People aren’t always the person they make out to be. For example a case that has been all over the newspapers and news reports is the case of a girl
