2/17/12 SCHOOL UNIFORMS As you get older, your interest and taste change. You might watch comedies instead of cartoons, you might like other foods, do different activities, or you might start caring about the way you look and what you wear. Around 4th or 5th grade you might be interested in the styles or accessories you wear. So when the question comes up about school uniforms, you probably have a strong opinion, especially if you already have to wear it. I never really cared about what I wore in kindergarten or wear today, but many people disagree if school uniforms should be enforced in school. In my opinion school uniforms should be enforced in school because it helps students focus, create a safer campus, and develops a school spirit. First of all, most students are distracted in class because they are more concerned about their looks and appearance than their school work. For example, students might compare their outfits with others, or care too much about what their classmates are wearing and gossiping about it during recess. However, school uniforms would reduce this problem. Even, parents and teachers agree that students don’t have the pressure anymore about what they are wearing, because they all have the same outfit. They don’t have to worry about how to dress up, so they are more focused and prepared for school. Secondly, wearing school uniforms build school spirit and inspire a sense of belonging. School uniforms promote positive attitudes, and boost students self esteem so they can focus more on their school work. Students became more respectful, friendly, and helpful when they have a strong school spirit. They study harder and looking forward to go to school, because it is exciting to be part of a team and a positive learning environment. The school climate encourages students to do better on daily basis and build a warm school
