Ms. Lara ENGL.0307.304 5 November 2011 Why school uniforms are must? Many people debate whether students should wear school uniforms or not. Uniforms have helped to develop many children socially into the people they are today. Uniforms have their own subculture and are an excellent idea. Uniforms help students in school academically and socially. It can be beneficial to parents as well; they do not have to spend as much money on school apparel. On the other hand, many people disagree with having school uniforms, saying that it doesn't give the student the right to express their individuality. However, I think uniforms build a sense of discipline and unity and are the appropriate attire to be worn in school. That is why I strongly believe uniforms should be enforced in every school whether public or private. I think that wearing school uniforms would help students do better in school for mainly three reasons. One is because they save valuable time, they can make school a lot safer for everyone, and they save money. First, school uniforms can save time because students, especially girls, don’t have to spend a lot of time trying to choose clothes to wear. In eliminating this time consuming task, students would have a lot more time to do more important things such as eating breakfast in the morning or doing homework. Also, think of all those hours at the mall trying to find the perfect thing to wear. With uniforms, you can spend that time visiting your Grandparents or doing something nice for a neighbor. Secondly, uniforms can make school safer because they can alleviate school violence and indignance based on the clothes the children wear. This would help kids with less money to elude the teasing they would get if they didn’t have uniforms.
