As a manager, I can see myself inspiring my subordinates to think, grow and take responsibility for them. I do this by demonstrating belief in what my staff members can accomplish. I believe that I can help people to improve, and I enjoy managing and supporting their efforts. Moreover, observing the best in people is important to me. As Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, “The essence of optimism is that it takes no account of the present, but it is a source of inspiration, of vitality and hope where others have resigned; it enables a man to hold his head high, to claim the future for himself and not to abandon it to his enemy”(BrainyQuote). We all have something we need to overcome in life, and being optimistic is essential to achievement as it serves as the foundations for both courage and true progress.

While on the other hand a group that doesn’t want to work together and doesn’t form a loyalty/bond with one another will ultimately put the whole group’s goals behind them and work for themselves. “Related directly to good communication skills are good listening skills. For example, if I was praising an individual for outstanding work, I would have a jovial but very sincere tone to my voice and make lots of eye contact, my face would also convey how pleased I was. I will (if the individual welcomes touch) put my hand on their arm or shoulder. The use of language is also important. With some service users, language needs to be a little simpler, without sounding patronising. Body language and eye contact are key with all communication.
