Unit 002 1.1 - My current job role is as an 'Apprentice childcare worker'. My job purpose is to support the team leader and childcare staff to create a safe and stimulating childcare facility for children aged 0-12 years. To ensure appropriate activities are provided and support each child in reaching their full potential. My key responsibilities involve: * To assist and work closely with the children, other members of staff and parents. * To assist and implement and ensure that i follow agreed policies and procedures.
For individual learning styles to be met, within a good learning sessions a teacher will ensure he/she takes a multi-sensory approach to teaching, this way each learner can work to the best of their ability. Initial assessment and contracting before any learning takes place will ensue that learner needs are highlighted, therefore suitable support and lesson planning can take place. Inclusive learning is also about promoting a supportive and motivating learning environment that addresses the needs and barriers of all learners. For example, learners with wheelchairs need have appropriate access to the classroom and other facilities. Support Children’ Care, Learning and Development in the Early Years As child care providers we have a responsibility to help children and young people grow and develop. We are able to do this b ensuring that we follow procedures and policies that help us implement the early years curriculum. We encourage staff to actively complete daily risk assessments that are to be completed before the children come in are also maintained throughout the day. We have a number of policies and procedures that we have to help the children feel safe and are able to access all aspects of holistic play and learning to help their overall development. All staff has had training in the following to help support and provide the early years curriculum:- 1) Training in planning 2) Risk assessments 3) First aid 4) Child Protection and safeguarding 5) Equality and anti-discrimination awareness We also ensure that all staff are made aware of the policies and procedures that are in place.
The most appropriate way to approach Ms. W, would be to address the team as a whole during rounds and monthly meetings. The roles and duties of FNP, LVN, nutritionist, social workers and registered nurses must be evaluated and understood by the all team members. Each member of the team must be educated on their scope of practices, roles in patient care, and resources to carry out their professional roles. Moreover, we know that Ms. W genuinely cares for the patient, but she may not want to admit that she needs help and that
I would also think of how I could support the children through the lesson, and which of those children may need extra support. 2. What might be your roll in organising, using and maintaining the learning resources, materials and equipment? When organising equipment for the lesson, I would prepare resources/materials ahead of the lesson. Ensuring that I know where resources/equipment is stored.
Working closely with parents I believe that it is important to work closely with parents as partners in their child’s care and early education. This is important so that we all get a picture of the whole child and what they can do at home as well as during their time in different settings. Parents are the experts on their children and therefore, regular communication between parents and me is of the upmost importance. This can be done at a suitable time, either at drop off or pick up, over the phone or by email, depending on the parent’s needs. When parents and practitioners work together, it has been shown to improve children's cognitive, social and emotional outcomes.
I may also have to take that child to the hospital or doctors . When we go on visit outside the school we have risk assessment for each child and each place we visit. I must make sure that I have read these and know them so I can deal with problems which may accur. Each child also has a PSP I must read these before working with any student. All our for students follow a daily planner and I will encourage them to follow this to the best of their ability.
One most important tip is for teachers should educate themselves and learn as much as they can about intellectual disabilities. There are some techniques and strategies that teachers can also use to support children educationally. First teachers must recognize that they can make a difference in student’ lives by finding out what their strengths and interests are, focus on them, and create opportunities for success. Teachers must also be concrete as possible by demonstrating what they mean rather than giving directions verbally and tasks that are longer in steps should be broken down into smaller steps and provide assistance when necessary. As it relates to student skills, teachers should teach life skills such as social skills and occupational awareness and exploration by involving students in group or club activities.
Educators help through the social context with development and learning. Vygotsky (1987) states that “teachers should wait for a child to be ready to learn” and claimed that “what a child can do with assistance today he/she can do by him/herself tomorrow. The social context enables learning.” (Cardwell. M et al, 2004, page 563). I agree with what Vygotsky states and claims, as I feel as when a child is shown to do something then they will grasp the concept of how to do it themselves in time, but still may need to be shown again on how to do something depending on the child’s development.
Knowing that they are different ways in which a child can learn a teacher should try to incorporate each style within there lesson plan so no child is left out. A teacher will usually lean toward teaching the students in their preference style of learning. Meaning for a teacher who is more of a hands on learner he or she will have more hands on activities but a teacher should learn to use the three most effective styles of learning which are, visual learners, kinesthetic learners and auditory learners. Understanding the different ways in which a child learns is the first step in creating and implementing a curriculum that accomplish all the goals it’s designed for. As an educator it’s important to make sure that all the T’s are crossed to insure that each child gained something as they walk away.
