In my setting I have a duty of care (a requirement to exercise a reasonable degree of attention and caution to avoid negligence which would lead to harm to other people) to provide a safe environment and ensure that I am vigilant and pay attention to make sure I keep all young children safe as they develop. Within my setting I carry out daily checks to ensure that the environment inside and outside is safe before the children arrive.
2.1 As health care workers we must follow “LOLER 1998 Legislation”, also the home will have work instructions which we must follow, not to work without correct training. We must follow risk assessments in the residents care plans which are tailored to the individuals and their specific conditions. When residents come into the home they are assessed for their specific capabilities by the in house physiotherapist and if a hoist is needed they are then measured and assessed for the type of hoist and sling used so they have the correct fit and weight for the hoist and sling. The residents all have their own slings to be used on the hoist to avoid cross contamination and to ensure they are accessible when needed. 2.2 The health and safety factors that need to be taken into account when moving and handling residents and using the equipment to do this are making sure we follow the health and safety at works act 1974 whilst
CYPCore34-1.1 Describe the factors to take into account when planning healthy and safe indoor and outdoor environments and services. Every person working with children is responsible for their safety; we all have the duty of care. As much as i enjoy assisting clients i always encourage them to be as independent as possible by letting them plan their day and making own choices. Also providing the clients with a welcoming and friendly environment will make all the difference to the person settling in. This provides stability for them and a sense of belonging.
By maintaining a good relationship with the parents/carers we will be aware of any problems that may arise with a child and then be able to deal with it appropriately. I have a duty of care to raise any concerns I have with a child to either the Local Safeguarding Board or Police depending on the circumstances as written in my Safeguarding Policy. Protecting children - If equipment is unsafe and I don't deal with it a child could get hurt. * I also carry out daily risk assessments inside & outside my

Also, the school should ensure that there is a suitable adult-child ratio and that all supervisors, including parent are DBS checked and competent for the purpose. Another value of a multi-professional approach is that they can safeguard children when abuse is noticed or suspected, the multi-agency team comes together to take any necessary steps to protect the child and can also support the family. The value of working in a multi-professional approach, when working with parents is by providing and supporting families with what they need. For example if families are living in poor quality and poorly maintained housing which may have damp in, this can cause diseases for instance asthma. This will affect the children’s learning and development as they will be ill or taking time of school.
