Pro-Choice Does Not Mean Pro-Abortion “I am pro-choice with limitations, pro-life with exceptions.” ¬¬¬¬––John William Warner. To be pro-choice means that one believes that a woman has the right to terminate their pregnancy at an early stage. If one is pro-life, then they believe in the legal protection of human embryos and fetuses. In other words, they favor in abolishing on the justification that it is the talking of a human life. In analyzing both of these positions, the thought that comes to mind it is a woman’s prerogative in what she wishes to do with her body. Even if the unborn are considered to be human beings, they have less rights than the woman. A woman should not be expected to donate her body as if it were a life support system for someone else. Once one grants that the unborn are human beings, it should resolve the question of their right to live. The right to be in this world does not add to with one’s age or size, because if it was so then toddlers and young adults would have a less right to live than adults. For one to compare a baby’s rights with its mother’s rights is unethical. The mother’s lifestyle in an abortion is at risk, as opposed to the baby’s life. No woman should be forced to have their rapist’s child. The act of rape itself is brutal, repulsive, and can leave one scared for the rest of their life. A rapist takes their victims feeling of protection and dignity. When such a cruel act like this occurs and results in a child, it is not an act of love, or even negligence, but rather, that act of violence made flesh. If a woman decides to keep that child, she will always be torn between the love of a mother for her child and the remembrance of the man who brutalized her.
