Police Personnel Job Stress is the complexity of their role, the need to exercise Prudent discretion, the threat of using violence and having violence used against the. When you stress as a police officer it can lead to negative attitudes, loss of enthusiasm and commitment to their job. It can even take a toll on their personal life such as health problems, divorces, or even substance abuse problems. When becoming a police officer it can come with good or bad decisions. The good is helping your community stay safe, than there is the bad which is maintaining a social and family relationship. When becoming police officer their schedule, sometimes cause long work hours. That is when the officers have more problems because their shift can change at any moment. That requires long days and nights at work. Those who feel a lot of pressure and alienated from their family and friends at home are more likely to feel stress on the job. This comes from being on duty twenty-four hours a day. Working long hours can lead to stress an emotionally detachment from working a public needs. Being a police officer is a risky job. Everyday their lives are at state. Sometimes being a police officer can affect you, the stress can be shocking. Police work can be shocking physical and psychological aliments. There is a significantly high-rate of premature death caused heart disease and diabetes. There has been a research that indicates that some police officers have a higher suicide rates than the general public. If a police officer get more support from home they are less likely to get stress. Some departments have tried to fight job-related stress by training the officers to cope with its effect. Stress training can include diet information, biofeedback, relaxation and meditation, and exercise. Some of the programs have even included family members. That way they can help the police
