Students in school who are growing up and transitioning to an adult world need to know how to live their own lives and be themselves, because eventually they won’t have someone there with them, helping them through things in life. Being themselves also means being able to express themselves the way the wish to. School uniforms are not only items that cause a lack of freedom of expression but also a largely ineffective way to help solve the problems they were meant to.

I believe that school uniforms should not be required for a few reasons. Uniforms take away from a person's individual identity and freedom to express himself or herself. They can be costly to people depending on a family’s financial status. School uniforms can also be a very uncomfortable fashion that students would not take a liking to.
They alter their uniform by lengthening, shortening, widening or tightening them. Tension between students and teachers sometimes occurs, as teachers try to enforce the school rules, and students resist them. Little or no relationships to academics Opponents insist that there is no creditable evidence that uniforms improve school discipline or result in superior academic achievement. The principal evidence offered here is that some good students are scruffy dressers. There is no doubt that children can learn even if they dress as they want.
I always thought that uniforms were put into place to slow down on bullying, and here the children are wearing them with a labeling color code such as this. How can children be catagorized like this? I would rather get made fun of because my clothes aren't the style or fashion that everyone else is wearing. I would dread wearing something that would label me such as this. If you're a top notch student, you may get picked on and called a nerd.
Often students are being picked on at school because of the clothing that they are wearing. Every child cannot afford to wear name brand and keep up with the latest trends. Some parents may have one or more students to buy for than others, and will may not be able to afford to buy trending clothes for all their kids. Wearing uniforms all the students would be dress similar to each other with their choice of wearing a blue or white collar shirt with a pair of khaki pants or shorts and skirts for the boys. If uniforms laws was enforced at public schools, there would be less students breaking the school dress code policy.
First, mandating uniforms in public schools can prevent kids from getting bullied. Bullying is a big issue in schools nowadays. Kids can be so critical when it comes to judging others. Kids will judge other kids by what they’re wearing, if kids don’t wear certain brand names they’re not considered part of the cool kids and they will exclude them from their group. Kids who wear uniforms don't have to worry about what people think about their outfit and they can focus more on their studies and schoolwork.

Students won't have the chance to express who they really are when all they have to wear is a silly uniform every single day. High school is especially the time where everyone finds out who they truly are and by enforcing uniforms, how will they express themselves? The problem about uniforms is that everyone looks the same, what happens of someone is trying to fond you? By having students wear what they want and express who they are it would be easier to identify each other. The thing about clothes is that it gives you a confidence boost.
Having a mandatory uniform limits teenager’s creativity and their expressive side. Lastly, the uniform can be harmful to schools image because some schools may have nicer uniforms than others causing other schools to envy them and not feel equal and uniforms are all about making everyone equal. Students will most likely be in their uniforms after school hours. If some students are caught up in bad behavior it can make the school look bad and gain a reputation. Dear Principal Hopkins: It has come to my attention that the school faculty and staff have begun to ponder the idea of having mandatory school uniforms for our school. I believe that this is not only a horrible idea, but also a huge violation of our freedom of speech. You also have a problem, in that there would be some students who would refuse to adhere to the new “dress code”. In 1968 there were three students who were suspended from school for wearing black armbands to protest the Government's policy in Vietnam. They decided to argue their case in court saying that their freedom of speech had been violated and that they were passive in their “protest” and did not infringe upon the rights of their friends.
