Organization skills are very important because the tasks of life run a lot easier when you know where to find something as opposed to stressing out over finding something in a mess. Teamwork is also an important skill I have learned, when you do something as a team, you can get it done faster. Through cooperation, a team can do just about anything. Out of all the life skills I have learned, discipline has been the one that I have benefited from the most. I have acquired a lot of discipline through drill and ceremonies.
Dear: National Junior Honor Society Committee I currently represent the “Character” Trait of NJHS by being honest to others and very workable with my fellow peers. Many people rely on me as a very good person to come to in a great time of need. I deeply care for my family and other people. I also listen to others ideas to help improve their idea or to help make it a reality. I will use all of these characteristics to help this organization reach out to people in need.
He offered a lot of help and was willing to make notes on my paper to attempt at helping me make my paper the best it could possibly be. I really appreciate his time and effort and definitely took in to account some of the great and helpful feedback he gave me. Another person I would also like to shortly thank is Professor Miller. She took the time out of her busy schedule to sit down and have a conference with me and go over any questions. It made it easier to figure out exactly what she was looking for in my paper.
Characteristics of a transformational leader are providing vision and direction, gains trust from others, communicates expectations and critical purposes, motivate and influence rationality, advises, and guides individuals (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 383). Although I have a high attention to detail, my critical thinking and problem-solving skills make me an effective leader amongst my peers. “[T]ransformational leaders also show greater agreement among top managers about the organization’s goals, which yields superior organizational performance” (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 383). A personal work plan helps us to stay organized, meet deadlines and complete all the tasks involved in our job. If there is not any personal work plan, it could lead to a build up of stress. The best way how to create the personal work plan is to make a daily list of tasks that need to be done, update the plan daily, crossing off completed tasks and adding new tasks that need to be done. Urgent tasks can be highlighted. The personal plan: * Helps to focus our mind on important tasks * We are less likely to forget to do tasks * Saves time * Helps to decide on priorities * We feel more in control * There is a record of what we have done * There is always something to work on Also creating the personal work plan is important because it allows an employee the opportunity to show a manager how he/she plans to accomplish the things that are being asked of him/her.
I also scored high on scale-A (agreeableness). This reflects well on my leadership skills, as I am known to have a good relationship with team members. I tend to be understanding even if there is an issue with progress within the team. Within reason, I like to forgive and give second chances to team members who do not meet expectations the first time around. This is usually well received by people I interact with, in a team setting.
I think the humanistic-encouraging trait is important because like any other leader, people must trust you, set goals that are attainable, learn how to resolve issues in a constructive manner, and encourage your followers. I enjoy listening to people’s problems and helping them think positive and find the healthiest or best solution. I am normally the person my friends come to when they need to talk to someone. I believe as a manager a person must have a sense of how a person is and deal with each person individually if needed so each person as an understanding of what is the mission is. Controlling as a manager is something I believe I will have to work on.
I like finishing tasks after I start them because it helps me become more motivated. I can work well on my own and in a group. I like to speak my point of view a lot and I like to put forward my opinions and I think this is a good quality because it helps strengthen my beliefs. I am really good at remembering things for example I am fluent in 2 different languages. My work experience was very successful.
* Effective Decision Making is vital to a team’s progress. Team members should be aware of various methods of decision making and when and how to use these methods. This will enable them to collect the information needed and understand and problems to enable them to make the right decision. * Balanced Participation to make sure that all members of the team are fully involved and actively contributing to discussions and meetings. By listening to everyone’s opinions they will feel a valued member of the team which will improve their wellbeing and job satisfaction.
In following parts, I will analyze my SWOT in different areas in terms of group working, presentation skills as well as critical thinking skills 1.1 My Strengths According to my previous working experiences, my colleagues and line managers claimed that I was a good listener, diligence in assessing businesses with which I dealt and good ‘people’ skills by dealing with tricky issues both on internal business and on external business. Since I have attended classes in Brookes, I have taken advantage of my merits that I mentioned above in team work which assists me to work with members smoothly. Moreover, playing a team sport taught me to respect all members who come from different background and education, have ability of being able to motivate and involve all team players and be a active member regardless of the point is elegant or not. 1.2 My Weakness One of my challenges is the academic level of language, which can be observed by doing presentations. I feel nervous and unconfident when doing a speech in front of students.
