Training and reflection will have positive effects for both the service user and the service provider. Reflective practice helps staff analyse complicated situations and help them make the best resolution. Analysing situations allow staff members to choose the best option that will benefit service users the most, allowing the care of them to be superior. Reflective practice also helps improve staff members’ problem solving skills. This means that the care of the service users will be improved since the staff are able to solve problems quickly and effectively.
As a manager, I can see myself inspiring my subordinates to think, grow and take responsibility for them. I do this by demonstrating belief in what my staff members can accomplish. I believe that I can help people to improve, and I enjoy managing and supporting their efforts. Moreover, observing the best in people is important to me. In fact, my ability to combine an acceptance of others as they are with the inspiration and encouragement they need to become even better is what makes me a valuable mentor, manager, co-worker, and friend.
Colleagues and other professionals: Working as part of a team, is working alongside colleagues and share a workload. Effective communication with colleagues brings good relationship and then working becomes easier because there will be cooperation and trust would be developed. This would also create mutual respect and better ways of rendering the expected service to the service user and build respect in the whole system. This also would make both parties effective listeners to understand each other better. Effective communication makes adequate information available when working with other professionals and thereby assisting the service users’ effectively.
Trust is developed by clearly defining roles, expectations, and goals. This develops a familiarity between the different team members, which helps to produce a shared vision and reliance on each other and improves the team’s effectiveness (Bethea, Holland, & Reddick 2014). A highly effective team uses its shared vision and defined goals to foster a sense of group harmony. This allows for problems to be solved and goals to be achieved. With each problem solved or goal achieved, excitement grows within the team and a sense of accomplishment is felt once the process is completed (Bethea, Holland, & Reddick 2014).
Taking into account the opinions of others and listeneing properly to their input will encourage a healthy team and also give the person involved control of whos and what input they would like in their support. Features of effective team performance, are having the team interacting and empowering each other through discussion and suggestion, this enables the team through meetings and every day events to put ideas forward and develop them to see what works and what does not, as some people believe that they way they do things is the only way which is not the case. There are several challenges’ that can form between developing and established teams, as everyone has their strengths but with that comes some allowable weakness. When these are identified it is my job to nurture strengths and set goals to overcome any weaknesses I do this through observation, meetings, supervision and appraisals. Also through ongoing course work to keep up to date with legislation and any changes to legislation to comply with CQC 3.
Ways we can ensure standards stay high include providing excellent customer service, retaining good levels of communication, keeping them informed at all times, offer information in a professional manner, treating customers with a positive attitude and responding to customer feedback. Personal Development is important for all staff to consider regardless of the level at which they work. It is about taking note of aspirations and goals and planning a way of pursuing these. Those who make Personal Development plans tend to be healthier, happier, focused people. It is therefore important that all departments encourage their staff to work towards CPD and training and development
According to Ovretveit (2002) it is defined as two or more people from different professions communicating and cooperating to achieve a common goal. According to NICE (2013) collaborate working between professionals and services, including carers promotes high-quality and consistent care. The coming together of people from each area, all bringing their skills and knowledge to ensure the right course of action is taken, ensures a higher quality service is provided. Inter-professional working requires the skill and knowledge for an understanding of all professionals that may be involved with the service user. It is also crucial that all members respect one another and be open and transparent with passing on information.
Critical thinking is beneficial in the decision making process because it gives a leader all of the necessary information and options available before making a decision.
