Like all children, I always played doctor or cops and robbers and even wished I could become a firefighter when I grew up. I always kept a close eye on my role models which were my parents, I always tried to do anything and everything they did. At that time when I was a kid, I knew I always wanted to become a nurse when I grew up. I was a daddy’s girl and I wanted to do what he did as a living which was a RN, registered nurse. I never knew exactly why I wanted to become a RN, besides the fact I wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps. Until my grandpa started to go downhill. Before I started going to kindergarten, my dad would always drop me off at my Grandpa’s house while he went to work up at the University of Utah’s Hospital. Our mornings together consisted of going to the Coffee Shop where everyone knew who we were. Instead of my dad dropping me off like he normally would he came inside with me and we had to get my Grandpa out of bed. This wasn’t normal because he was a morning person and was always awake way before we got to his house. My dad told me to go play outside in the backyard while he got him up and dressed. I had then asked him, “if we were still going to the Coffee Shop and why he wasn’t going to work today.” He came over and picked me up and said to me, “sweetie I’m very sorry but your Grandpa isn’t feeling very well and we need to take him to the hospital to see what is wrong with him.” I could already feel the tears building up so I jumped down and ran over to the wooden swing that hung from the tree and started crying. All I could think to myself was, “why him, he didn’t anything wrong and was such a loving man to everyone even if he barely knew
