Selena is a great role model to children and as well as teenagers because she is a woman who ‘does it all’ and is driven to succeed. Not only is she an actress, but she is also a business woman with her own clothing line and has a music career touring worldwide. She inspires many of her fans to do just about anything they put their minds to. Regardless of the death threats she gets for dating Justin Bieber, she manages to keep her head up and have a positive outlook in life. She is definitely not a typical young Hollywood star because she stays grounded and has a kind relationship with her fans.
In Nina Power’s text, ‘One- Dimensional Woman’ the author also argues that you don’t need superficial things to feel good about yourself, or to even look like perfectly thin stick figure to be a feminist. Women these days like to have the idea of living the ‘rich and famous’, if not they try to invest in material things. They want the ideal lifestyle or better yet, being more successful than someone else. Today’s society is filled with
Eleanor Roosevelt, an admired and well respected First Lady and wife to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Outspoken, caring, compassionate and very determined. Who would of known her legacy would far surpass that of her own husbands and even the US borders. She won internal respect and admiration on her role as first lady and wife of a US President and was without a doubt one of the most influential member on the UN's commission on Human Rights. Eleanor was not a scholar nor an expert in international laws unlike any of the members.
Eleanor Roosevelt extraordinarily differed from the expected role of women in her period, she had become recognised as more than just the First Lady of America, taking a far more politically active role than any other first lady before. More predominantly the influence and achievement of impact of her unceasing activist enthusiasm aided people of suffering and need, recognising all Americans as equals regardless of gender, colour and status. Effortlessly Eleanor strongly vocalised, aspired and achieved many efforts which would aid American society, thus when becoming Franklin Roosevelt’s wife, surrounded by the political world, her enthusiasm to “help people help themselves” expanded her achievements on an international level too. During WW1, Franklin was appointed Assistant Navy Secretary, which gave Eleanor her first opportunities of aid in government support extending her love for voluntary work. She took on the role of fulfilling social obligations and voluntary jobs such as working for two private aid organisations which assumed a quasi-government role in providing supplemental care for seaman and all servicemen, generally the Navy Relief Society, which focused on the special needs of sailors and the American Red Cross.
Americas Beloved It’s a great thing to come from the bottom and reach the top. However things aren’t just handed to you, people have to work hard to get to the pedestals that there in. Oprah Winfrey wasn’t born an entrepreneur but she worked hard to get there. Oprah is best known for her multi-award-winning talk show. Ignoring that, Nancy Lee still raises her head up and smiles, “This won’t keep me down. But when I’m a woman, I’ll fight to see that these things don’t happen to other girls as this happened to me” (Hughes). Even though Nancy Lee is disqualified to receive the scholarship, she still accepts it and lets it pass. Nancy chooses to face her own struggle by using it as her own advances instead of letting it paralyze her. Moreover, because of her decision, Nancy Lee becomes more mature and responsible.
Dee only wanted to lord over them her superior intelligence and education, therefore boosting her own ego. Dee does not hide her shame for the way that her mother and Maggie live by writing “no matter where [they] “choose” to live, she will manage to come see [them]. But she will never bring her friends.” Dee's harsh criticisms are not just pointed at her mother and Maggie as can be seen when the narrator points out “When [Dee] was courting Jimmy T she didn't have much time to pay us, but turned all her faultfinding power on him. He flew to marry a cheap city girl” (Walker 105). Notice the emphasized word flew.
Women, particularly working mothers, still wonder if they can provide the best for their kids especially in this economy. Ann Romney respectfully salutes and praises those women. However, she doesn’t know what is it like to be in their shoes because of her wealth. Both Ann and Mitt Romney were born into a rich family. Like the average American family, they did not come across problems financially while growing up.
She took it into her own hands to fund a develop her cable threading idea. The dragons see this and applaud her many times throughout the pitch. Due to this, the dragons know that she is determined to better herself and her business and so are more likely to invest in her. In the end she got more than she bargained for, gave a little more of her company away but managed to grab two dragons instead of one (James Khan and Duncan Valentine). There are many skills needed to become a successful entrepreneur however first we need to know what this is.
My role model is someone close to my age who unlike most celebrities, wasn't afraid to admit that she is human and needed help. Not only did she seek out help, she openly shared her experiences and has encouraged many other girls facing the same problems she had to seek help themselves. With her hit single "Skyscraper" she details that yes, life pushed her down but she's rising again like a skyscraper. This is the life of my biggest inspiration, Demi Lovato, and how she has made an impact on my life. Demi Lovato was born August 20, 1992 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was raised in Dallas, Texas.
