I had an answer, but I struggled terribly with putting it down on paper because I wanted this interview to “be perfect”. I was too worried about what I looked like or sounded like, so ultimately I had lost “my voice.” I went to my dad for more help. I had wasted a whole hour stressing over how to answer a few questions about myself. My dad told me something very important that day, he said, “The best way to impress someone is to be you”. After meditating on what he said to me I had at least something to put down.
However, Study Skills comes with many important reasons to keep the class. The class would allow practicing the material in his classes. They allow him note take and further intensive reading, which would allow him to understand the material better. The class has no papers to turn to the professor. Even though he has a full load of classes not having turn any work would allow him to relax, because he would focusing on current and not any extra work.
Not everyone wants that much help! Teachers, quit making me take notes all the time! There are certain teachers that will grade you on your notes, calling it a participation grade. That has got to be the biggest load of crap I've ever heard! Many kids like myself are blessed with the capability to understand and remember things just by actively participating in the class discussion and listening to their teachers.
According Bojar to students at the community college have a hard time juggling classes along with his or her family and a job. Many students want teachers to teach and mentor them along with hold them to a standard (Bojar). Students are becoming lazy and waiting till the last minute. Alma Contreras Dr. Zipperian English 099 Tue. Thur. 9:30-11:30 October 15, 2013 Stress Me Out I have to deal with a difficult phlebotomy instructor, a big family, and some financial problems which causes me to have a very stressful life. First of all, my phlebotomy class is hard for me. In phlebotomy class, besides the tedious 160 questions every week, the instructor is more interested in socializing than in teaching.
I went in, and had todo cognitive testing: an IQ test, a reading test, and a slew of other things that I was just lost in. I felt an unbearable sensation of anxiousness growing with every new task we started. All I could think of was testing and wanting to get out. I questioned why I was even going through all of this effort. Every time I walked out for a break, the tension was eased, and I reminded myself why I was there.
Final exams are a time of stress for students to worry about if they can recall all the lessons that their professors have went over within that semester. Students who are scarcely passing any of their classes need their final exams to be passing grades, so they tend to study a little harder. Finals also allow students to see how all the lessons they have learned connect through small facts. Identifying and understanding thoroughly everything the professor particularly emphasizes in class can be a hard and tough experience when preparing to study for finals. In Joy Alonso’s “Two Cheers for Examination “she uses examinations to examine the purposes and useless of exams in two and four year colleges to appear to students and teachers.
I had to overcome many challenges and face personal obstacles. The first thing I had to overcome was the feeling of not wanting to attend karate class. I felt intimidated that I did not know anyone at the karate school and feared that I might embarrass myself. Once I overcame that obstacle, I then had to deal with the great pressure of being one of the more advanced students in the class. This was a great deal for me because a lot of the students that were underneath me, looked up to me as their role model even though I was still learning to be a great karate student myself.
Although I maybe never fully experience being deaf, I now have a great impression of some of the daily misfortunes and struggles that they go through. During classes it was nearly impossible to understand anything the teachers were saying because most of the class was either through group discussion or lecture. Although I had peers taking notes for me, I still felt incredibly behind and anxious. When going out to eat I received many weird and disapproving looks when I tried to sign, then when I ended up writing down my order the waitress rolled her eyes and blatantly treated my as a child/hassle. The one positive part of this experience was when I was pulled over by the police.
I interview all of the students on site at CLC prior to their class time when possible and they spoke candidly about their instructors and how they felt that some of the work was too hard, while others felt they were not going to be able to meet the challenge expected of them for their education. Some students felt there is too much information being given to them at one time and not enough time for them to digest information between the college and the high school. There were students during these interviews who felt that their problems begins with time management as they try to process, gather, research, and prepare for projects and class experiences. Some students told me that they feel the college instructors expect too much from them over multiple subjects. Because some students feel they are not properly prepared or skilled in study habits for college work, they expressed that they are failing certain courses either at the high school level or with the dual credit program.
