At age 16 my aunty dropped out of high school and her life has been a living hell ever since. The age requirement to drop out of high school should remain the same because at 16 the part of the brain, called the Frontal Lobe, which controls decision making, isn’t completely developed. “Students who receive poor grades, who repeat a grade, or who are over-age for their class are more than likely to drop out.” (Do Something) Students who receive poor grades are likely to not care, get upset, or do something about it. Getting bad grades really affects you when you put so much time in that subject. If you don’t do the work, how do you expect to get good grades?
In addition of going to school, working class students also have to get a job to be able to help out their families. Working class students have always struggled to get by during their years in college but most of these students have families who support their dreams of coming out of poverty and become somebody with no pressures. However there are also students who lack family support and deal with these issues alone throughout college. I was not surprised, but very disappointed when I received notification of my Academic Probation. I met with the Dean and explained the situation to him as well. My first year at the University of Richmond proved to be a very difficult experience for me and my grades suffered as a result. I am certainly not attempting to make excuses for my poor academic performance, but would like to explain the circumstances. As a freshman, I understood that the rigors of taking 18hrs credit hours of class work would be challenging.

I interview all of the students on site at CLC prior to their class time when possible and they spoke candidly about their instructors and how they felt that some of the work was too hard, while others felt they were not going to be able to meet the challenge expected of them for their education. Some students felt there is too much information being given to them at one time and not enough time for them to digest information between the college and the high school. There were students during these interviews who felt that their problems begins with time management as they try to process, gather, research, and prepare for projects and class experiences. Some students told me that they feel the college instructors expect too much from them over multiple subjects. Because some students feel they are not properly prepared or skilled in study habits for college work, they expressed that they are failing certain courses either at the high school level or with the dual credit program.

According to Channel 7 reporter Erica Rakow’s in the article “FCAT Stresses Students Out, she claims” The responsibility of passing both reading and math portion of the FCAT in 10 grade adds a stressful ambiance to students who really do not want to retake it as a junior (par.2). Rakow also points out “That responsibility includes promotions to the next grade, and future funding for their school. I have learned so much because of the challenges I have faced throughout my academic career. I have put up with crazy teachers, tough assignments, and my own uncertainty of things. To this day I am happy to say that I have gotten passed those things and will keep beating more problems to get to where I will be later in life. During my high school years, a big issue of mine was some of the teachers.
INTRODUCTION: The following research project is a summation of the various modes of research that I have conducted in order to test my hypothesis. The final year of schooling holds a large amount of stress and anxiety for every student. It is a year of constant pressure and many students are unable to cope with the stress of the upcoming finals and the chance of rejection from university. Many students pursue different methods in order to reduce their levels of anxiety. My hypothesis is that concentration medication does not reduce stress in teenagers and I came to desire to test such a hypothesis upon hearing of an experience of one of my school friends, who will be kept anonymous for ethical purposes.
