The book for itself told me that it was going to be about abortion and indeed there were going to a lot of trouble. But overall the book was good and informed me a lot about the illegal abortions women’s were having back then. Honestly, the women’s who were getting the abortion were tired of having babies and we not capable of caring for another child. Kaplan’s thesis was that women had the right to know about abortion
Abortion should remain legal so women would keep their faith and they will not experience hardship with their unwanted baby. There are many reasons why abortion should remain legal. It preserves a humans beings life and prevents the mother to have an unwanted life with a baby that she doesn’t want. If abortion becomes illegal not only one life will be affected but it would be the mother and the unwanted baby. The bible does not say anything about abortion but has something that sounds like they are talking about abortion.
Women across the country who must go through the traumatizing horrors of abortion are often categorized as shameful. They are judged enough already and certainly don’t deserve to bear the burden of ugly legislation. Planned Parenthood is an organization who supports women’s rights and is in disagreement with the things that they must put women through because of these regulations. A recent bill in Texas called the “Women’s Right to Know Act” was passed and requires women to make at least two visits to the abortion clinic before the
Some people say abortion is the easiest way to solve the problem. But they don’t really know how the mothers are affected by abortion. The effects of abortion are on both physical and psychological health. After abortion, some women get Traumatic Stress Disorder, Dissociation and emotional paralysis, Guilt and Regret, Brooding and Antisocial Behavior, Anxiety Disorder, Sexual Dysfunction, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Depression, Suicide. The worst case is that the woman cannot give birth or even death at all.
Partial-birth abortions, abortions in the third trimester, and the recent “day-after” or RU-486 pill now add a new aspect to the issue. Partial-birth abortions and abortions in the third trimester are exceedingly controversial. In these procedures it doesn’t involve the expulsion of an embryo, but it involves the actual termination of a fetus from a womb. It has been outlawed in the United States a result of numerous outraged pro-life advocates and some pro-choice who found it to be utterly inhumane. The RU-486 is said to be no more controversial than any other aspect of an abortion.
12 Apr. 2012 Many people do not want to hear the word abortion, but when it comes to rape victims that get pregnant, it is often brought up. Even pro-life advocates agree that an innocent child shouldn’t perish for the sins of their father (1). Harvard students give their opinions and come to the conclusion that no rape victim shall be frowned upon when deciding to get an abortion. “Abortion is not some magical surgery which turns back time to make a woman ‘un-pregnant’ – or, for the matter, ‘un-raped’” (1).
This idea is known as postmodernism; because of this, assumptions and explanations are usually made in order for us to understand the world in our own particular way. Barbara and Immaculee both go through postmodernism because the decisions that were made throughout the troubling journey were impacted by personal experiences. Barbara chose abortions because she dealt with going hungry and an abusive boyfriend. She felt bringing a baby to that kind of environment was not fair so abortion seemed like the best option on the list. Immaculee had the choice of giving up and letting go, but she did not.
29 Apr. 2012. . This website is mostly just created for facts on why pro-choice is actually the proper thing to do. It creates an idea of why having abortions legal benifits both women and the economy. One of the facts that is mentioned is the many different types of abortion.
In the online article “Misperceptions About Unplanned Pregnancy,” the difficulty of obtaining birth control is addressed. It is noted that cost and other obstacles make contraceptives seemingly unobtainable, leading to many adolescent unplanned pregnancies. Also, in terms of accessibility, it is imperative to give women access to safe abortion-performing clinics as to limit the unsafe quest for illegal abortions. With modern surgical technology improving day after day, there should be no reason for a woman to be led, seemingly forcibly, to seek out illegitimate surgical options. Lastly, regarding the pro-choice agenda, simply put, abortion noticeably lowers crime rates.
In 2008, 1.21 million pregnancies were aborted (Guttmacher). I believe that every woman should have a right to decide whether or not she would like to get an abortion. I believe if a woman feels that she is not able to raise a child the way he/she deserves to be raised, if she cannot financially support the child, if having the child will effect her health or the child's health, these to me are all justified reasons for not wanting to bring a child into this harsh world. I do believe that there should be a certain time limit in which an abortion can take place, because as it gets closer to birth you are dealing with a fully developed human being, but in the earlier stages of pregnancy it should be a womans choice. Abortion is a personal decision not a legal
