Unfortunately, there are several different reasons that conclude why abortions are appropriate in certain cases. A few examples depend on one’s financial stability, age, environment, and their position of dependency. As discussed in the previous paragraph, I discussed the different reasons in which several women feel obligated to get abortions. For the women who go through with their pregnancies, who are not financially stable or who are irresponsible, results in the neglection of their children, foster care or put up for adoption, led into prostitution, and the abuse of drugs and alcohol. It results in a life time of misery and suffering for the child all because their parents never had their best interest at heart.
Abortions are performed for many reasons, varying from rape and incest to teenage and fatalistic pregnancies. However, more and more political bills are trying to do whatever they can to dissuade these women from going through with the operation, with no regard as to what situation has brought them to this conclusion in the first place. It has reached a point where protestors from all over the nation have become infuriated with the absurd and medically unnecessary procedures
The side affects, whether it be emotional or physical, are too much for someone to bare. While some women do over come the emotional idea of killing a fetus, it will liger for a lifetime. Not knowing what the child looked like, or how they would have impacted a life is devastating to most. No one will know how great of a person that child would grow up to be. There are lots of opinions about abortion, and most are not 100 percent for or against the idea.
I am pro-choice but I have to say, abortion is a wide topic and it surprises me how women use abortion. I have heard of cases of women that use abortion as a birth control or just because having a less than a perfect child or just because a new baby doesn’t fit in their family. I always thought that abortion was an option because the life of a child would be miserable, for example, a teenager that was raped and she is unable to properly take care of her child; or a fetus diagnosed with a disease that would make the child suffering and the chances of survival are
Erin Gerstner Mr. Skaer English 101 Nov 13, 2014 Argument Essay – Final Draft Abortion Two words that could make or break any women, “You’re pregnant.” Some women may be excited to hear these words, but others, well they may be terrified. Our world today is full of unsolved, divisive and controversial issues. Most of them relate to our morals, ethics and religion, thus creating a very strong yes, no, good or bad side. Abortion is one subject most people feel negatively about. It’s immoral, all conclusions made about abortion are negative, and they all show the downside, abortion should be banned.
There are many reasons, most of them being because the parents are not prepared to handle the responsibility of a child, and have conceived an infant by accident. According to Linda Lowen, “4 out of 10 unintended pregnancies end in abortion” (Abortion Facts). This is a large number of 40% of children who get their lives taken away because of a careless mistake of someone who was not prepared to have a child. Statistics show that three of the main reasons for having an abortion are, “3/4 say that having a baby would interfere with work, school, or other responsibilities; about ¾ say they cannot afford a child; and ½ say they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner” (The Alan Guttmacher Institute). These are all reason that could be avoided, and save many lives in the early stages.
Postpartum depression has affected woman many women after childbirth. Some are much more affected than other. This mental illness is caused by the drastic drop in estrogen and progesterone after giving birth to a child. Also, it can be brought on by the extreme change in lifestyle. As mothers, especially for the first time, our life are turned completely upside down.
Say an under aged girl, or even a girl who isn’t under aged was molested or raped, and that resulted in a pregnancy. Someone with Utilitarian views could say it is better to have the abortion because it could cause more harm on the baby or the mother if she continues the pregnancy, and suffers depression by the constant reminder growing inside of her, or after the child is born she could resent the child and cause it harm. These situations would have a negative outcome for more people than a good one, so in Utilitarinaism eyes, aborting the baby would be the right thing to do. Consider someone who is looking to adopt a baby, because they cannot have a baby of their own. If a woman aborts her baby she could be denying that couple who can’t have a baby the opportunity to adopt.
