Finally, some women decide they don’t want to be a mother at all. J. Review part one, preview part two: Not only does “Not ready” is the main reason about abortion, and birth control failure is another reason. iv. Her decision to have an abortion is a difficult and personal one to make. Like many Americans, Samantha has never agreed with the practice of abortion. However, after much deliberation, Samantha has come to the conclusion to have an abortion; it would only make life more difficult if the baby was to be born. Revoking a woman’s right to have an abortion would be unconstitutional because this right is protected under the ninth and fourteenth amendments. The ninth amendment enforces implied rights, which are rights not directly stated in the Constitution, but can be interpreted as such.
Sheila Campbell EN 1420 Comp 2 Dr. Moon September 25, 2014 Abortion has been controversial issue, since the beginning of time. There are two sides: Pro lifer based on culture and religious belief. Pro-choice a woman has a choice to choose whatever she chooses to do with her body. Abortion Should Remain a Woman’s Right According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC),“In 2010 more than 765,000 legally induced abortions were performed and reported from 49 reporting areas for women ages 15-44, with the majority of abortions performed on women in their 20s” (Abortion Surveillance, 2014).
Due to the lack of parental guidance and education at school, children are more prone to engaging in unprotected sex, which is one of the leading causes to abortion (Her Choice, 2009). If you are under 18, your state may require one or both of your parents to give permission for your abortion or be told of your decision prior to the abortion. However, in most states you can ask a judge to excuse you from these requirements (Planned Parenthood, 2012). According to the Guttmacher Institution, 40% of minors having an abortion report that neither of their parents knew about the
In 2008, 1.21 million pregnancies were aborted (Guttmacher). I believe that every woman should have a right to decide whether or not she would like to get an abortion. I believe if a woman feels that she is not able to raise a child the way he/she deserves to be raised, if she cannot financially support the child, if having the child will effect her health or the child's health, these to me are all justified reasons for not wanting to bring a child into this harsh world. I do believe that there should be a certain time limit in which an abortion can take place, because as it gets closer to birth you are dealing with a fully developed human being, but in the earlier stages of pregnancy it should be a womans choice. Abortion is a personal decision not a legal
Although scientist have developed ways for a fetus to live outside the womb, many feel that until birth the fetus is not developed enough to be considered a person. How can that be true when the first twenty eight days after conception an embryo has a heartbeat. Opposers fell that if we can reduce unwanted pregnancies we could reduce the number of abortions that are given to women each year. There must be a better alternative to abortion. Most young adults do not fully understand the bible and its scriptures concerning taking a life.
Pregnant women will get abortions because they do not like the sex of the baby or because they just don’t want a baby. At the same time, the same females will get pregnant time after time and will abort the baby because they don’t want it. There are plenty of loving families who cannot get pregnant and will adopt their babies, in most cases will even pay for all the prenatal care (http://www.adopthelp.com). Some of the pro-life supporters believe that in certain situations abortions are necessary to save a life. The law to illegalize abortion will have an exception to certain cases.
Low income women’s access to reproductive services is limited by their healthcare providers. There apparently is a difficulty with the Medicaid disbursement system. Since 1976, the Hyde Amendment has prevented women on Medicaid from using their insurance for abortion care, minor exceptions. The Hyde Amendment does however provide reproductive funding to women who have been raped and victims of incest, or when it endangers a mother’s life. As of now only 17 states have opted in on the option to use their own funding to expand Medicaid coverage.
Maddie Minetree Women’s Rights 1960-1980 An abortion is defined as the termination of a woman’s pregnancy. No law defined an abortion before it became legal in 1973 (Lader). Before that, women only had the right to an abortion if her life was in danger. Because of this, many women sought illegal abortions, often ending in infection and sometimes death. Whether pro-choice or pro-life in the end it is up to a woman to decide if she wants to have her baby.
ABORTION KILLS POOR LITTLE HELPLESS BEINGS A abortion is when a women wants to terminate her pregnancy. There could be many reasons why they may not want the baby. She could not have enough money, or she could be young and may not want to be a teen mother. There are about 44 million abortions performed in the United States.
