Abortion Kenneth Blair Mississippi State University Abstract This paper is about women who decide to have an abortion because of an unwanted pregnancy. It also contains my personal views on the topic of abortion. This paper has statements from the NASW Code of Ethics guideline. It also talks about how social workers should represent their clients when they are thinking of getting an abortion, and at the same time, it talks about people values. The NASW Code of Ethics states that “2.01 Respect” The NASW Code of Ethics also dictates that social workers are ethically responsible to allow clients to have self determination “pg. 4 1.02 SelfDetermination”. In addition, the social worker is a professional person who will focus on their client’s issues. The social worker knows that this is a difficult decision for a woman to make. Therefore, the social worker will make sure that the woman knows all the aspect that comes with having an abortion. I believe that a woman should make her own decision when it comes to making a decision about having an abortion. I personally do not believe in abortion. I feel that it is the person right to decide what decisions they choose to make during their lives. I know that unwanted pregnancies do happen, and people have to decide what is best for them.
