Delfinio I. Velasquez Professor: Tami Comstock Eng- 80-32544 3/26/2013 How Autonomy should be used with Parenting Parents want what is best for their kids, but what they think is best for their kids depends on what parents think an ideal adult looks like as a whole. Daniel H. Pink in Drive analyzes how authentic motivation and autonomy are required for children potential to be preserved. Parents should use more autonomy as much as they can to let their children feel that they are controlling their own life. This will increase their motivation in many areas and gain more confidence to achieve better grades in school. Allowing children to be able to think independently and create their own behavior can be an effective way to allow for more autonomy, improving their motivation in many areas and get the confidence to achieve better grades in school.
For example, the text states that Hank’s mother would give him food to pacify him as a child, which could have led to him looking for oral satisfaction in his adulthood. 2. Would Freudian theory describe Hank’s eating and argumentative behaviors as being internally or externally motivated? Explain the motivation. These behaviors are internally motivated.
The advice can range from how to feed their baby or to discipline their child differently. The parent is left to wonder how to properly parent and may question his or her own parenting style and goals. As a result, every parent must make a personal accounting and choose whose opinion to take and whose opinion to leave by the wayside. After examining two articles, “Carol Dweck's Attitude; It's not about how smart you are” David Glenn (2010) and “Disciplining young children: the role of verbal instructions and reasoning” co-authored by, Blum, Christophersen, Friman, & Williams (1995), one can conclude the source and presentation of advice on proper parenting techniques be only accepted after understanding and evaluating and determining whether or not it offers a legitimate platform for the advice. Glenn (2010), although not a psychologist himself, introduces Carol Dweck to his readership.
A positive role model can promote healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Joining a child in healthy activities teaches them that adults practice what they preach. It also helps them respect adults for making strong decisions. Adults who nag children to be healthy can come off as condescending, and they might be met with rebellion. Taking part in a healthy activity shows a child that the behavior is normal and it is a positive pressure that convinces a child to be healthy.
Working closely with parents I believe that it is important to work closely with parents as partners in their child’s care and early education. This is important so that we all get a picture of the whole child and what they can do at home as well as during their time in different settings. Parents are the experts on their children and therefore, regular communication between parents and me is of the upmost importance. This can be done at a suitable time, either at drop off or pick up, over the phone or by email, depending on the parent’s needs. When parents and practitioners work together, it has been shown to improve children's cognitive, social and emotional outcomes.
What groceries to purchase, what groceries are unhealthy to purchase when grocery shopping. And last, but not least control and watch what goes into your child’s body, and what should not enter into your child’s body. I also plan to create a fun way of introducing good eating habits that parents can share with their children. How can we make eating healthy fun for our children as well as ourselves. Eating can be made fun.
How can you help the individuals to socialise at mealtimes? How do you prepare to handle the food? How do you prepare your clients to eat and drink? List the signs that a client may be allergic to a particular type of food. When would these signs present?
Having a good attitude to work makes the whole placement more relaxed and that is what I have realised when being there. I have realised that working in the same room with the same children helps to realise what the children are like and how the behave. I am developing my knowledge of supporting colleagues by understanding the problems they have and the things they may struggle on and also doing the higher courses will give me a better understanding. D4: I have been effective with communicating with parents by passing on information to them such as they may need more nappies and wipes or the amount of time they have
He showed some causes of childhood obesity, and he thought that people should care more about the other causes. The aim of this essay is to analyze this article. First of all, the article was written by Pierce Hollingsworth who is the director of Stagnito Communications Inc. This company is a food, beverage, packaging and integrated marketing communications company, so he might give some biases about the food marketing. According to Pierce Hollingsworth (2004), the parents and school should not blame the food marketing for being the main cause of obesity rather than teaching and helping the kids to have good habit of eating.
By having their mother go to work as well as their father children can learn not to be prejudiced against others, become independent and have strengthened family values. This his being taken into consideration, working mothers in two parent families where the fathers also work do not put their children at risk of emotional trauma. A working woman in a two parent family gives the children the foundation for understanding and acceptance of equality. Equality is important for the emotional development of children because it gives them confidence that they deserve equal chances and are normal just like everyone else. Feeling normal and belonging are needed according to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory for self-actualization which is the optimum state that a human could hope to achieve because they are happy with themselves and everything around them.
