Violent crimes committed by juveniles have become a growing epidemic. The children of today are subjected to violence in popular songs, television shows, and even computer games.

The Ugly Face of Entertainment Entertainment tempers people's hectic pace of life, preserves sanity, and serves as a vehicle for socialization. In an age of technology, however, new entertainment has invaded society and rotted morals. Television, computer and video games, movies, and others have placed an unhealthy emphasis on indulgence and violence. By capitalizing on thrillers like aggression, much of entertainment has distorted human character and promoted violence.
The Hunger Games serves as an allegory for modern entertainment, economics, and government to criticize on society’s entertainment in violence and how it can provoke violence in society, government’s control by creating fear and weapons, and a criticism on the gap between the rich and the poor which creates a hostile relationship between first and third world countries and these ideas demonstrate that society is corrupt and young people are the only ones that can change it. About 97% of teenagers play games that contain little to no violence, sex, and drugs, and studies have shown that in some cases video games can cause teens to become violent and aggressive (Harvard’s) In The Hunger Games, The Capitol finds an immense entertainment in violence. The actual games make young adults in the novel become inhumane and violent in order to survive.
Critique on Do Video Games Kill? This article “Do Video Games Kill” by Karen Sternheimer addresses the wide spread idea; video games are the cause for “young killers” (210). Sternheimer believes concern for the influence video games may have on youth is spiraling out of control. She put most of the blame for this out of control concern on the media. She also writes some about politicians and the Juvenile Justice system.
Notice that these days in our society everywhere we look, violence is there;the streets, alleys, school, and even at home. Violence can even find its way into our homes through TV that we watch on regular bases. The amount of violence shown in the media has formed a lot of arguments. Many video games, television programs, adverts, films and music lyrics show different forms of violence. Some people feel that there is too much violence shown in the media.
She also admits that one of the problems with video games is that there is no standard for rating video games, so any content that is profitable is acceptable. If exposed to violent TV for an extended amount of time, it may be able to desensitize anyone, especially if they come from an already broken home or bad neighborhood. To say that because of this desensitizing, everybody is to be more violent would not be accurate. Many who have broken the law or committed crimes against man don’t even have access to TV. People in bad neighborhoods or broken homes or schools are more prone to violence because of what they see around them,

Television has become part of everyday life. With the growing fixation and attraction to violence in the media, children in today’s society are becoming more violent and aggressive than ever before. However, to obtain a true understanding of this problem we must look at all aspect that cause violence, and not just put all of the blame on the media. Nevertheless, we shouldn’t forget the number one violence causing aspect, the media. Scientists have tried to explain why children are so amused by a big glowing box and the action that takes place within it.
