ESSAY ON THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF BENJAMIN FRANKLIN American History HIUS 221-D20 LUO April 10, 2011 Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography serves as a model for self-improvement. He was the youngest child in his family, who went from one of meager means to that of wealth. The method in which he achieved his wealth was that of hard work while continually striving to become better at his craft and better as a person for the benefit of the society in which he lived. This also proves to be his motivation for endeavoring to achieve these goals. It is easy to see that at an early age Benjamin Franklin was very ambitious in learning and eager to do so.
He assisted with the negotiations of treaties for peace and prosperity. With all that Benjamin Franklin has done through out not just his career but also his passion in life presents his story as an illustration of self-improvement. To summarize what I felt were Benjamin Franklin’s most astounding accomplishments and key ways that he illustrates self-improvement I am going to discuss some very crucial points in his life and career. His working career began as a printing apprentice at the age of twelve working for his brother, James Franklin, in Boston, Massachusetts. While working for his brother he became familiar with the printing business and became proficient at it.
“Technology leadership is not defined by patents, which history has repeatedly shown to be small protection indeed against a determined competitor, but rather by the ability of a company to attract and motivate the world’s most talented engineers. We believe that applying the open source philosophy to our patents will strengthen rather than diminish Tesla’s position in this regard.” (Tesla Motors) After reading this article, I honestly am blown away by the amount of foresight and bravery that Tesla is demonstrating in order to do what they think will better everyone, not just themselves. It is the finest act of unselfishness in a long time. Ironically, this has a lot of similarity to the Patagonia case. Tesla is looking to better everyone rather than solely focusing on themselves.
Wrapping the wire around an iron core greatly increases the magnetic field and therefore creates a magnetized object, also known as an electromagnet. Hypothesis: ‘If the electromagnet has more coils, then it will have a stronger magnetic field’ This hypothesis was chosen, as our aim for this lab was to observe and identify whether or not the length of the coiled wire had an effect towards the magnetic field strength of an electromagnet. Based on this purpose, we changed the length of the metal coiling to 1 meter, 3 meters, 5 meters, 7 meters, and 10
How Do Photocopiers, Powder Paint and Precipitators Work? Photocopiers, powder paint and precipitators are all very useful, and work in a very specific way, static electricity is the base of this. Static electricity is a collection of immovable charges on an object or molecule. Static build up is caused by friction, when two insulating materials are rubbed together electrons are taken from one and moved onto the other. This leaves a positive charge on one material and a negative one on the other, the charge depends on the material.
President Abraham Lincoln was one of great leaders of this nation. He exemplified leading by example and leading in the front. He developed leadership strategies that are practiced by the world’s greatest leaders. Today’s leaders can learn how to be successful leaders by incorporating characteristics of President Lincoln’s leadership philosophy into their own leadership style. President Lincoln built a strong presidency by taking the time to develop personal relationships.
Although his childhood was ultimately hard it still led him to becoming part of the war effort. After WW1 Hitler focused all of his efforts on giving his country a way out of their struggle. Hitler wanted to reboot his country after WW1. He was very successful at this because he was a very good speaker which made him likable. He had a way of gaining peoples trust and respect that brought in many followers for his organization the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDA).
Carl Rogers continued his work with client-centred therapy until his death in 1987. With his emphasis on human potential, Carl Rogers had an enormous influence on both psychology and education. Beyond that, he is considered by many to be one of the most influential psychologists of the 20th century. The person centred approach was Carl Rogers’s unique understanding of human’s behaviour, personality and relationships. Carl Rogers believed that if an individual achieved an understanding of his/her feelings also known as self-actualisation then they would achieve the ultimate desire of being a fully functioning person living a good life.
MY SELF-EFFICACY PHILOSOPHY My Self-Efficacy Philosophy An Overview Mike Holmes Educational Psychology, Psych 225 Johnson County Community College “I Think I Can! I Think I Can!” Recently I read the children’s story The Little Engine That Could to my grandson. It is a delightful tale of defying impossible odds by believing in one’s self. Defying impossible odds, the little engine did what was almost impossible to everyone but him, yet was there a message that was missed in the reading of this book? It has been about 60 years since this book was originally published with the lesson that anything is possible if you truly believe in yourself, yet many of us are hampered by how difficult it is to pursue our dreams and we are handicapped with self-doubt and negative thoughts that are either “that is so difficult” or “I don’t think I can do it” as part of our daily vocabulary.
These values along with their religious beliefs are the main reasons for the development and prosperity of the Anglo - Saxon culure and have remained with them until their end. First and foremost, courage is present in those people´s daily lives back then. In fact, their hope and faith were put upon the bravest, strongest and most courageous man in their society. This ideal man was their source of inspiration and admiration, for whom they dedicated much of their time praying for. This epic hero as many called him, had to be as strong as a rock and be able to perform tasks that no ordinary man who do.
