10 OM Strategy Decisions for Hard Rock Cafe 1. Design of goods & services-Hard Rock designs, test, and analyze ingredients for cost and sample food with its customers for satisfaction. They also send out surveys to have their food and services rated. They use this feedback to determine if an item is a success. 2. Managing quality-Every meal is important, surveys are use to gage quality from customers. They have many brands and have been in business since 1971. That is an indicator of their devotions to quality. They are thoughtful in who they use as suppliers and they research every product. Each item is tested by the chefs. 3. Process strategy- Efficient employee schedules. Manage 100,000 meals per day. Efficiency in the kitchen and prep areas. 4. Location strategies- Store locations are thoroughly thought out; they have to weigh all the options and opportunities. They must consider the location, the culture, the political party, the customs of the people, the available of the labor force, the education of the people, currency risk, social norms, the availability of transportation, also the average wage index of its potential customers. Location can make or break a business. 5. Layout strategies-The managers are involved in the layout of the stores and the kitchen. It is vitally important the kitchen is efficient. Items are placed in certain locations to decrease wait time and ease of working conditions. As times change, so does the layout of the store to accommodate the customers. The circular layout is used to show the memorabilia for the customers to experience. 6. Human resources-OM uses the best people they can recruit and train to operate their establishments. The employees are a critical part of the customer’s experience. Their employees are not only competent in their job skills but, also are passionate about music
