A GOOD SUPERVISOR Paula Carver BUS 114 Instructor: Tracy Thompson 8-5-2013 A Good Supervisor In this essay I will examine supervisor role, three traits of effective management relationships between employee and choosing the right employee kin a multicultural society. I will use my knowledge that I have obtain in this course along with personal experience’s Henri Fayol,a French industrialist identified five managerial functions. Planning, organizing, commanding, coordinating and controlling (Cassidy& Kreitner,2010). A role of a supervisor can hold many hats. According to Fayols five functions along with a wide variety of duties and responsibilities (Cassidy& Kreitner,2010). Let’s get familiar with the duties and responsibilities. A supervisor needs is a trainer. They take each employee and work toward molding them into what an organization needs to be successful. For example, a supervisor will be a role model at all times teaching each employee what it takes to be successful. This is an ongoing process and a good supervisor is always ready and willing to help that employee succeed. A good planner is essential to being a good supervisor. A supervisor plans an objective to ensure that the needs of the company. Organization work towards a common goal according to the type. When a supervisor plans around what that goal is then the employee can work towards the goal. Supervisors should be able to schedule effectively in order to succeed. I know that in my current position this is a very important factor and one I must do effectively. A supervisor must know the needs of customers and be able to schedule around that need. One of the biggest in my opinion is to be a motivator. In order to motivate others can be very challenging. A supervisor must know the employee peak performance, strength’s and weakness in order to know
