English in the Era of Globalization In this era of globalization, the role of language has become important in order to be able to communicate with each other and swiftly interact to technological development and information. Without capability of mastering a foreign language, it is almost impossible to communicate with people around the world. World population that is so multifarious and multi cultural has languages of their own. Therefore world interaction and communication must be supported by one global language. And this one global language is English. English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Learning English is advantageous as it provides us many chances in life. First, one of the primary benefits of learning English is that it encounters us to the global business as it is often considered as the language of global business. The international business community often uses it for communication, even among people who do not speak the same native language. Speaking and understanding English can let a person more easily communicate with others and find more job opportunities not only in his or her home country, but around the world as well. There are also many professional informative publications and most international business transactions, including emails, memos, reports and contracts, are written in English. Beside the advantages in business, with learning english, many chances in educational aspects are widely opened. Undergraduate students for instance, have to pass TOEFL exam to grain admission from the department, and those who want to be eligible for scholarships, are also required to pass such entrance exam.
