English Should Be Required in America

I solemnly believe that English should be a required language in the United States of America. For starters, it would make shopping at stores simpler. Secondly, it would make getting a high-paying job in America much easier, due to the fact that they will most likely require you to be able to read/speak english. Finally, it is just completely disrespectful and rude to not speak the native language of where you will soon live. One of the reasons people should be required to speak English in the United States is because going shopping would be a lot more simple on everybody. For example, if you require toothpaste, but you didn’t know how to pronounce it in English, figuring out where it is can be really troublesome. Especially if you were at the cashier, and she asks you debit or credit. If you didn't understand what she was saying, you would be waiting there for a long time till the cashier could find a translator, or if you just give up and leave. The second reason people should be required to speak English in the US is so that they could be able to get a lot better paying jobs. For example, the larger majority of the jobs in America require you to speak fluent English, just for communicating. You wouldn't even be able to apply for one because you wouldn't be able to fill out the application. It would also be in the interest of people because most people who do not speak English have poorer paying jobs because there aren’t a whole lot of them. If they were able to learn to speak English, they would be able to get a better job, then a better house, then eventually a better life in general. The final reason you should speak English is for plain old respect. The vast majority of the USA speak English, and have spoken it for the past several generations.
