One sausage and one hash brown for breakfast just doesn't cut it. All of these problems require an improvement in the quality of LSMSA food. Currently, the food here has a lot to be desired. Most of the food, and surprisingly even the fried food, taste extremely bland. LSMSA students are being repelled by the blandness.
Over time, the fast food industry has increasingly manipulated consumers and corrupted the stability of the nation, and although the convenience and affordability of fast food has made it widely popular, the disadvantages noticeably exceed the benefits. In Eric Schlosser's non-fiction novel, Fast Food Nation,
I agree with Zinczenko on his critical viewpoint on how he looks at the fast food industry. Fast food is part of the blame because most of them are not healthy and are bad for consumers. The calories of a Big Mac, medium fry, and a medium Coke are almost equivalent to the daily intake of these industry’s consumers. Zinczenko uses the analogy of a simple salad we would assume is healthy. Our fast food industry needs to provide these nutritional facts in easy reach for their customers.
Raw fruits and vegetables are usuallysafe, except for the rotten ones. Confectionery like chocolate and other hardcandies are also safe, since candying is a method of food preservation.Carbonated beverages tend to be good if they still fizz, and alcoholic juicemixes were always appreciated. The author also scavenged pizzas from adumpster behind a pizza delivery shop. Prepared food was usually not safe, but he retrieved the pizzas immediately after the shop was closed. Theseextra pizzas were due to prank calls, incorrect orders, or customer rejection, and were perfectly good when discarded.
The American Obesity Epidemic The so called obesity epidemic in America is exemplified by greed, ignorance, and deception. Food producers stuff supermarket shelves with cheaply made, calorie dense and minimally nutritious food products. The FDA, in collaboration with food industry lobbying groups promotes unhealthy and unbalanced diets in the form of the ever changing and almost useless food pyramid. Finally, the American people are ignorant of what truly constitutes a healthy lifestyle. In the same way that smoking and drinking are conducive to bad health, so too is the overindulgence of over processed simple carbohydrates, trans-fats, and sedentary habits.
My favorite vocabulary word is actually two words or a compound word to some: “Supersize”. I’d like to see this written in all caps on a giant billboard: Super-Sized meals are unhealthy, irresponsible and show your lack of self-control, but that’s ok because while you’re there killing yourself, we here over in corporate America are getting rich. Here have a coupon! 4. Pollan strongly tries to convey his comparison of (primarily) Americans obsession with “comfort food, such as McDonalds to that of a cocaine abuser, or some other narcotic.
Obesity has becomes a popularity controversial issue in today’s America. People hold different points on obesity. Some says that obesity is a kind of disease, and some think that it is the unhealthy food which leads civilian become obesity; here Greg Critser gives us a different view about obesity. In “Don’t Eat the Flan”, the author Greg Critser state that even we can see many titles or headlines about obesity, but no one look upon obesity in a morality way and gluttony has been considered as a non-sin. Critser found that whether a bookstore clerk or a famous professor don’t willing to see food in morality area, and there do not have any evidence to support that being overweight is dangerous.
Madden 1 Harvey Madden Mrs. Crabtree English 101 Nov. 10th, 2012 Who’s to Blame? David Zinczenco, the editor-in-chief of Men’s Health Magazine wrote, “Don’t Blame the Eater.” In his reading he cites the irresponsible actions of fast food establishments, such as marketing to young kids, not providing nutritional facts completely, being responsible for obesity and poor health issues in many Americans today. This poses the question. Can they be held accountable? In all reality, maybe it is the lack of concern and the love of financial gain that these establishments thrive off of.
The more a certain food is processed, the more mal nourished it becomes and, in turn, the more unhealthy it is. The problem with the American population is our eating habits have become accustom to these fatty, salty, and sugary items and it is why we crave and enjoy them. From the farm to the grocery store, the processing of food diminishes its nutritional value to nothing, sabotaging the American diet so far in diet related disease and obesity, our nation has become a slave to chemically altered foods.
P America’s Obesity Crisis Obesity has plagued America. Poor food choices and sedentary lifestyles are two accelerants which continue to fuel this fire. I view this as a lack of responsibility of ones self. As adults, we need to be held accountable for the choices we make. While fast food is convenient and sometimes even more affordable than preparing a meal at home, overindulgence in such behavior is directly linked to adverse health problems.
