She’s The Man She’s the man directed by Andy Fickman and realised in 2007 is a romantic comedy about following your dreams. This film presents themes such as the importances of being yourself and following your dreams, the ways that gender stereotypes affect our behaviour and the importance of communication in relationships. Most sports are not co-ed because of the common conception that women cannot play at the same level of sport as men can. Viola Hastings the main character in the film, is a high school soccer player at a school called Cornwall. Viola's soccer team at Cornwall gets cut.
Dariela Flores Paper 3 P.O.V. “The Bride,” written by Christine Granados, is a story about a Hispanic teenager whose dream wedding was interrupted by teen pregnancy. Since Rochelle was a little girl she was obsessed with having an extravagant “white wedding.” Throughout the story the younger sister Lily tries to snap Rochelle back to reality and get her to appreciate her Mexican culture. Rochelle gets married while she’s four months pregnant and although things didn’t go as she planned she was content with how she ended up. Granados implies that life won’t always go as you planned.
In the film you catch how Ana and her mother believe in different roles that women should have and this is where most of the problems and differences come upon. One of the female roles that Ana strongly believes in is that she aspires to advance in life and attend college is something that is very important to her. On the other hand her mother Carmen opposes to college and moving from home is not an option for Ana unless is for marriage. In the eyes of Ana's mother, a college education is not the top priority and she is determined to make this clear to her daughter. With this said, there is a part in the film where Carmen is talking to her husband about the fact of Ana attending college and she tells him that there is no need for their daughter to attend college, that it’s a waste of time that she herself will teach and educate Ana with everything she needs to know so she finds herself a husband and gets married.
Jess disobeys her parents many times throughout the text to do what she enjoys the most, playing soccer. The director has created unique and humorous characters to compete with jess’s strong desire to do the things she loves. Jess’s mother Mrs Bhamra has the biggest impact on her life. Mrs Bhamra being a traditional Indian parent pushes her conventional expectations onto her daughters who were born into a different cultural world, so she hopes to grow her children in the same Indian culture that she was raised in. Her mother says: "Who'd want a girl who plays football all day but can't make chapattis?"
Feathers From A Thousand Li Away is about a woman who goes to America for a better life for her daughter. Her daughter becomes very Americanized and gains respect but can only speak english and her mother cannot. The Joy Luck Club is about a girl taking over her mothers position in a club that she had started. Her mother started the club back in China to get away from the outside world and have fun and relax. However, her mother thought of her daughter as a failure and they did not get along very well.
Jenna and her sister are close, her sister plans on attending college at the end of her senior year and wants to study to become a doctor. Jenna wants her sister to be successful, but is jealous of her because she has nothing holding her back from achieving her goals. Jenna feels that her son and recent arrest will jeopardize her future plans because if she is found guilty it will impact her ability to receive finical aid for school. Jenna had begun to feel sorry for herself and started smoking marijuana with her boyfriend. Avalon didn’t have a good feeling about this, but eventually her mother convinced her that city life will be a good change for her. Avalon trusted in her mother’s words and was looking forward to meeting new friends and starting a new life. Avalon meets a few friends on the first day, but not everyone is accepting. Avalon was a pretty, smart and kind girl so she was a definite threat to the popular girls.

When taking part in the interviews before the hunger games, Katniss battles with maintaining her identity whilst struggling to control an appealing façade, to keep a healthy relationship with the institution in order for her success in the Games. The way in which Katniss exclaims, “No one will forget me. Not my look, not my name. Katniss. The girl who was on fire.” Illustrates how the games have altered her in order to assimilate in society, yet consequently stripped her of her identity and values as she becomes what the institution determines her to be.
Natalie is Heathers best friend. The reason she joined the game was because of the money. Natalie wants to use the money to get out of Carp and become an actress in Hollywood. Oliver writes “Nat always said she wanted to become an actress, but heather had never thought she was serious- not serious enough to do it, definitely not serious enough to play Panic for it” (50). Heather doesn’t know why Natalie joined the game because she was afraid of everything.
