Running head: Character Profile Character Profile of Jess Bhamra By Michelle Bryan University of Phoenix The character that I chose is Jess Bhamra from the movie Bend It Like Beckham. Jess is an eighteen year old female who is living in London at the current time of the movie. Her dream is to play soccer professionally but her parents strongly disapprove. The movie follows her ups and downs as well as her becoming an independence young woman. The last thing in Jess’ life that affects her ethnic identity is the fact that she is just out of high school. If she was a parent or had a career she would not have been in the situation to pursue her dream of being a soccer star. Jess is influenced very early on in her life that it is important to be a girly girl. Her mother and sister are constantly pressuring her to want to go shopping and dress in more feminine clothes. Jess does not wear makeup or fix her hair nicely which
