The use of information and its flow through an organization is an important aspect in today’s business culture. What to collect, how to store it, how to use it, and what to show to other entities, are all questions that many organizations are asking. My intentions with this class and education is to better understand information, and how it flows through an organization. Below is a synopsis of what I have learned so far, and how I am better understanding my current place of employment, Verizon Wireless. First, a discussion about where information comes from and how it is gathered.

What kinds of benefits has DPSU received from implementing an Intranet? - Some of the benefits that DPSU has received from implementing an Intranet was that employees started to use FizzBiz to register electronically for the national sales meeting and other corporate meetings or incentives. They now also have an online employee suggestion box which allowed employees to post messages in different forums. It also allowed field sales employees to input the marketing requests directly into the marketing funds system.
They communicate face to face to their customers, members of staff and manager. This could be so that misunderstandings are avoided because the other person is able to tell from their facial expression and tone of voice. They communicate over the phone too because it allows them to contact other local Tesco branches, which is ideal for brief messages. However, this method can be problematic due to the fact that calling Tesco’s in other countries can have bad frequency and cost a lot. Tesco holds staff meetings every month.

In the workplace, this is a flexible type of communication as it could be formal or informal - depending on the message(s) that are being expressed. This is my report to outline the electronic and non-electronic methods for communicating business information, using examples for different types of audience. Different types of audiences will have different requirements. First I will talk about the electronic methods (non-written), for communicating business information, for different types of audiences. Electronic (non-written) methods: Telephone Calls – This type of communication could be used a lot internally in businesses where they need to talk over the phone for an immediate, fast, and live response. This can be formal or informal.An example of this would be managers speaking to staff in the groups which they are managing; in this case it is informal.
