Their childhood experience from parents, who were never satisfied for their great accomplishments in school, might be the cause of their discontentment with their present achievements. Another problem with these overachievers is their inability to set boundaries for themselves. When you request them for something (task or project), they’ll overwork to impress you; only to be dissatisfied with your praise. Overworking eats up their time and only frustrates them when your praise fails to satisfy them. A Players are irritated with those people whom they see as less talented.
Waiting for the Superior Hero In the film, they revealed how bad teachers are often transferred from one school to another. This can be seen as a rotation cycle which is not turning out well for the public school system as well for the students. The reason being why a school lets a teacher go is because they discover that they are not doing their job efficiently which leads students to not learning. When students do not learn at least the basics of education, then they do not meet the state standards and cannot enter the next grade level. With this in mind, administrators are stuck trying to figure out what in the world are they doing wrong.
They stress day and night over these overrated tests, like previously stated channeling out the imagination, curiosity and good will. Besides being an imprecise measure for students, they use them to judge a teacher’s performance as well, essentially used to either reward or punish them. Standardized test are not helping us very much right now. In conclusion, the usage of standardized tests should be discontinued or by the very least lessened. These tests are not helping people, it’s initially having a negative effect on students and teachers.
Student’s may have an “off” day and not perform their best possible. Another con I that this testing causes many teachers to only teach what they know will be on the tests. This can lead to boring classrooms that lack creativeness because teachers are worried about what to teach instead of how to teach it. (ProCon 2014) Standardized Aptitude Test: a standardized test created to predict an individual’s ability to learn certain skills. One advantage of a standardized aptitude test would be that it compares students from different areas.
It does not solve all our educational problems. But not having a curriculum indicates our unwillingness or inability to define what we are trying to accomplish. It provides direction, clarity, and focus around worthy ends, without interfering with teachers’ decisions about how to teach” (Ravitch, 231). Teachers are not getting the creative freedom that is necessary to be a good teacher. Too much emphasis is being placed on testing and accountability thus creating discomfort and stress for educators.
If you do then merit pay simply wouldn't work. “(Gazette, 2009) Basing the teachers’ pay on performance will create a void of experience and excellent school teachers for failing school students. The void will be open for inexperience teachers to work with these students. The losers in this case are the students. “Many states and school districts are finding it increasingly difficult to implement performance pay programs.
These are prime examples of the lack of effectiveness of these policies. They are so extreme that they begin to cause more negatives instead of positives. Those students who are suspended or expelled for minor actions or ones that they are not truly guilty of while fall behind in their school work. Being behind in their classes could lead to discouragement to continue to work
Being honest in every aspect of what you do, working hard and creating your own work are crucial. Cheating and plagiarism are wrong for many reasons, and go against all that is academic integrity. According to (Boehm, Justice &Weeks 2009) “Academic dishonesty costs institutions administrative time, loss of integrity within the school, and student lack of respect for ethics and values.” (pg. 45) If you have poor academic integrity you aren’t learning or getting as much out of your education as you could be. It not only effects you, but everyone else as well.
It may start out pretty good, but all it takes is one student to question his authority and the center crumbles. But even this can’t compare to the final reason that people shouldn’t govern themselves. People are irresponsible. They struggle with little things and as such can’t be
I feel like the performance on one test should not dictate whether you do or do not advance a grade. The act also places too much stress on the teachers.
