Carolina Agustin Professor Rucker English 104A 25April, 2012 The Perfect Meals for Every Body Type Throughout the book, The Omnivores Dilemma, there have been three main topics the author talked about and made certain points on. For example, industrialization, pastoral hunting, and gathering. As Michael Pollan, the author, informed us about these topics I realized that I knew what the perfect meal for every body type. Most of us believe that maybe we shall fallow the food pyramid and that, that is the answer to healthy food and good nutrition. Like Pollan pointed out in one of his chapters, fast-food is bad for our health and for us in general.
I could modify my diet only if I quit working, seriously. I can take my lunch each day and within it I would include fruits and vegetables. My health is important to me, I do exercise but exercising with not having the correct amount of nutrition intake is basically a waste of time. I am planning to start the Food Planner exercise to help me with daily nutrients I am lacking. You would have to reduce your calorie intake, however it is not a drastic calorie change as in most diets. It is a permanent weight management program instead of a diet that you use only for a temporary weight loss. Both programs help with reducing weight loss AND both also deal with the food pyramid method. Interview Questions ● Why did you initially choose this diet? I chose Weight Watchers because it’s doesnt sound or look strict at all just a “healthy style” of living.
3-Day Food Intake SCI/220 January 15, 2014 3-Day Food Intake This paper is submitted do to the experiment of my food intake based on a three day period. During the three days I was to intake and record what protein, carbohydrates and lipids that I consumed. How this compares to my dietary reference intake as well as how this can affect my lifestyle and well-being in the future. Some of the foods that were consumed during the three day period that contained larger amounts of protein were 6 inch Subway sandwich, cheese pizza, Buffalo Chicken wings, scrambled eggs and lasagna. Some of the foods that were consumed during the same time that contained larger amounts of carbohydrates are also the same ones listed in my protein intake with the addition of 12 oz.
Quality is our recipe at Wendy’s. There are several different slogans for each company. These are slogans from the three competing fast food corporations, or A.S.A.P. foods. A.S.A.P food is food that is processed as soon as possible and distributed as soon as possible.
Over a three day span I consumed 53% of dairy products, 51% of meat, 50% vegetable intake, 0% of my recommended fruit intake and 51% of my grain intake. Looking at those numbers made me realize that I did not get realize that I did not eat even close to the recommended food intake from the food pyramid. Now that I have seen the numbers in front of me, I think I do really need to modify what and how much I eat. I think that if I plan out my meals for the week, I can more effectively eat within the parameters of the food pyramid. I plan to eat more nutrient-rich foods such as bananas, strawberries, apples, red beans and wheat.
This responsibility also needs to be the leading factor in the lawsuits that are being filed against fast food companies because of childhood obesity. We are all aware of the health risks associated with eating these kind of meals and although children are left with little choice at times as to what to prepare themselves for breakfast, lunch or dinner, there are healthier alternatives for preparing meals which are also cheaper to purchase than fast food. With all the information available on the Internet, brochures at fast food restaurants and other nutrition tips at these establishments we need to hold ourselves responsible for our health and stop blaming the fast food
I am starting to watch the labels on the food I buy watching for that sodium that is so high in so many foods. Each value meals are a product of modules combined to produce different products. The process strategy of repetitive process is copied by a lot of fast food restaurants. Repetitive process had a lot of decisions that follows the ten critical decisions in operations management. Such as the assembly line process where a layout design was put together to strategically set stations in particular areas. The setup help characterize McDonald’s as a fast food restaurant.
Protein is in the acceptable macronutrient distribution, but the carbohydrate acceptable macronutrient is under. The total fat is way over acceptable macronutrient. I would give up most of my soda and try to cut back to one a day and try out some healthier snack food. Hopefully giving up my snacks and sodas intake would be enough to get my lipids into the recommended range. Raise my starch and eat more noodles and potatoes without the butter and salt.
